The total construction time for the repair of the new Cau Lau bridge as planned is 120 days. The handover of the site to prepare for construction is November 8, 2024. The estimated construction time for the bridge must be divided into traffic routes of 60 days and only motorbikes, motorbikes, non-motorized vehicles, ambulances, buses on the Da Nang - Tam Ky route and some special duty vehicles are allowed to cross the bridge under limited conditions, with traffic controllers.
The traffic flow time is divided into 2 phases, to ensure traffic circulation for people to travel at least 20 days before and 15 days after Lunar New Year 2025. During the remaining construction time, all types of vehicles can circulate normally over the bridge according to the instructions and regulations of the contractor based on the approved design documents for projects that are both under construction and in operation according to regulations.
According to the Road Management Area III, the construction time and traffic diversion as above is the estimated time. The official time before the diversion, the unit will specifically notify your agency and the mass media 7 days in advance. Vehicles allowed to circulate during the diversion time for bridge repair must absolutely obey the traffic controller's orders and stay in the fixed lane.
Specifically: Ambulances travel at a maximum speed of 20km/h; Da Nang - Tam Ky buses with a load capacity of less than 5 tons travel over the bridge at a maximum speed of 10km/h and one vehicle at a time (only allowed to travel over the bridge from 6am to 7pm daily); vehicles on emergency missions travel at a maximum speed of 20km/h; motorbikes, scooters, and rudimentary vehicles are only allowed to travel over the bridge at a speed of 10-20km/h.
The National Highway 1 management unit will coordinate with the functional departments of the province, district and town with routes approaching the new Cau Lau bridge to arrange 6 checkpoints to guide traffic flow. Each checkpoint consists of 2 workers coordinating with the Department of Transport Inspectorate or traffic police. Checkpoint No. 1 is located at the northern intersection of Vinh Dien town bypass; Checkpoint No. 2 is near the head of Vinh Dien bridge, the intersection of Phan Thuc Duyen street with National Highway 1 (old); Checkpoint No. 3 is at the northern bridgehead of the new Cau Lau bridge; Checkpoint No. 4 is at the southern bridgehead of the new Cau Lau bridge; Checkpoint No. 5 is at the Nam Phuoc intersection, the intersection of Hung Vuong street with National Highway 1; Checkpoint No. 6 is at Cay Coc intersection, the intersection of National Highway 14E with National Highway 1.
