Consider adjusting the planning of national airports and seaports

The Ministry of Construction has just submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision to establish a Council to appraise the task of preparing and adjusting the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

According to the proposal of the Ministry of Construction , the Chairman of the Council for Appraisal of the task of preparing and adjusting the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system is the Minister of Construction; the members are representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, and two experts in the field of civil aviation.

The Ministry of Construction said that the airport system planning was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 648/QD-TTg dated June 7, 2023, and then adjusted to add Gia Binh International Airport on July 25, 2025.

Accordingly, the national airport system in the 2021-2030 period is planned to include 31 airports, with a vision to 2050 to include 34 airports. The plan also identifies a list of 11 potential airports, which will be considered for additional planning when qualified.

Recently, the Ministry of Construction has compiled and submitted to the Prime Minister for consideration the addition of Mang Den Airport (Quang Ngai) and Van Phong Airport ( Khanh Hoa ) to the airport system planning. The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has also proposed to study and consider adjusting the airport scale of Quang Tri Airport.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has agreed in principle to study and add Mang Den and Van Phong airports to the airport system planning; at the same time, assigned the Ministry of Construction to review and ensure sufficient basis for adjustment according to the shortened procedures in the Law on Planning and report to the Prime Minister.
