On the afternoon of September 22, Yen Khanh District People's Committee held a conference to review the 2023 winter-spring crop production and deploy the 2023 winter-spring crop production plan.
In the 2023 crop, the whole district planted more than 8,121 hectares, including 7,676 hectares of rice; 26.5 hectares of soybeans; 15.5 hectares of sweet potatoes; 42 hectares of corn; 21 hectares of peanuts; 38.8 hectares of other plants; and 400 hectares of vegetables of all kinds.
Rice, reaching 100% of the planting area with early season rice, by July 10 the whole district had basically completed planting. The 2023 crop season has very favorable weather for crop growth and development, in general, rice plants grow and develop well.
In particular, in the whole district, the area implementing the production linkage model (about 145 hectares), the projects of organic rice production with 2 crops/year (155.2 hectares) and the projects supporting new, advanced varieties and new techniques (183.2 hectares) are all developing well.
Currently, the rice is in the ripening and waxing stage. Harvesting is expected from October 5 to 15, with an estimated yield of 56.5 quintals/ha. It is forecasted that Yen Khanh will have a good harvest in the 2023 winter-spring rice crop.
At the conference, delegates also heard a summary report on the 2022 winter-spring crop. Accordingly, Party committees at all levels, authorities, organizations, and specialized departments from district to grassroots levels strengthened leadership and direction to mobilize the masses to actively produce winter crops in 2023.
In the 2023 winter crop, the whole district strives to plant about 2,230 hectares of the following crops: corn, squash, pumpkin, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, soybeans, peanuts, chili, Alisma and various vegetables.
At the conference, delegates from communes, cooperatives and specialized departments focused on clarifying existing difficulties, proposing, recommending and providing solutions to successfully implement the winter crop production. Specifically: focusing on propaganda, mobilizing people to actively and proactively produce the winter crop. Agricultural cooperatives proactively seek joint venture markets, cooperate with businesses, companies and units to produce the winter crop in the direction of commodity production, increasing production value.
Localities focus on quickly harvesting rice and seasonal crops, freeing up land early to deploy winter crop production in time. Continue to encourage and create conditions for organizations, individuals and farming households to borrow land, rent land, and change land locations to grow winter crops.
The district's specialized agencies organize the transfer of scientific and technical advances, introduce new models and new plants with high economic efficiency. Do a good job of predicting and forecasting pests and diseases, weather and climate developments, and agricultural market situations to producers. Strengthen the inspection, examination, and management of agricultural materials in the area to ensure quality for winter crop production.
In particular, strictly direct the implementation of flood and storm prevention work, prepare electric pumps and diesel pumps to be ready to prevent flooding for the winter crop, carry out the internal irrigation plan well, and prioritize the winter crop production area in 2023.
