On the morning of September 16, Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper organized an award ceremony and photo exhibition Ho Chi Minh City - New Colors , at the newspaper headquarters.

Ho Chi Minh City - New Colors has no special prize

Mr. Nguyen Thai Binh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper , head of the contest organizing committee - said that the organizing committee received 699 photos from 224 authors.

After the selection and judging rounds, the jury selected the top 50 outstanding photos for the exhibition. Of these, 13 photos were awarded, including 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes, 5 consolation prizes and 3 reader favorite prizes, an increase of 1 second prize compared to the original plan.

The jury includes photographer Nguyen A, photographer Ngo Tran Hai An (Quy Coc Tu), photographer Nguyen Tuan Khoi, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper Nguyen Thai Binh and Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper's photography team Huynh Truong Giang.

Photographer Nguyen A shared that this contest received few entries due to the short launch time, limiting the number of photos submitted by each author to only 5 photos but the photos were of very high quality. Among the winning photos, there were 3 photos taken on the occasion of the 30-4 celebration. This year's contest did not have any special prizes.

Nguyen A hopes that next season the organizing committee will expand the photo shooting time and scope nationwide, and not limit the number of photos submitted for each author.

Photographer Nguyen Tuan Khoi commented that many photos showed good technique, told stories, and evoked emotions in viewers instead of just recording events.

The organizing committee awarded the first prize of the Ho Chi Minh City - New Colors photo contest to author Nguyen Tien Anh Tuan with a photo with the theme of Stretching . The photo was taken from the rooftop of Landmark 81 building, capturing the moment when fighter jets dropped heat traps in the sky of Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

Two second prizes went to the authors: Nguyen Minh Tan ( Vung Tau - Ho Chi Minh City's long arm reaching out to the ocean ), Huynh Pham Anh Dung ( Happy Day of National Reunification ).

Two third prizes were awarded to the authors: Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang ( Seeing the festival ), Duong Cong Son ( Joy of Independence Day ).

Five consolation prizes include the authors: Cao Thi Thanh Ha ( Intersection between the aboveground and underground roads ), Vo Van Hoang ( Welcoming the parade ), Nguyen Van Tuan ( Joy of Uncle Ho's birthday ), Nguyen Hoang ( Smile of determination ) and Tong Tran Son ( City night ). In addition, the organizing committee also awarded three favorite photo prizes.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoi - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - highly appreciated the significance of the contest, which was held at a time when there was an adjustment in administrative boundaries when Ba Ria - Vung Tau , Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City were united under one roof.

Mr. Hoi added that if approved by the City Party Committee, the department will arrange space for the Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper to display photos, including outstanding photos from the contest, at the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress in early October.
