University autonomy breathes new life
On April 13, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education held a ceremony to announce and award the decision to recognize the Chairman of the University Council for the 2020-2025 term.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc attended the ceremony and presented the decision to recognize Dr. Truong Thi Hien, Party Secretary and Vice Principal, to hold the position of Chairwoman of the University Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education for the 2020-2025 term.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc congratulated the school and the new Chairwoman of the School Board, Truong Thi Hien.
The Deputy Minister acknowledged the achievements that Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education has attained in 62 years of establishment and development.
This is one of the leading schools piloting the autonomous mechanism according to Resolution 77 of the Government , providing important human resources for society and the country.
According to the Deputy Minister, after 10 years of implementing Resolution 29-NQ/TW on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education , the education sector in general and higher education in particular have had many innovations and clear changes.
The mechanism of granting autonomy to universities has breathed new life into the operations of higher education institutions, international integration, and improved training quality.
Universities are increasingly innovative, improving the quality of training, appearing in regional and international rankings. Many university training programs are quality accredited. The number of international publications in scientific research of universities has increased sharply.
"That shows that the policy of reforming education, including university education, and giving autonomy to schools is a new breath of life," said the Deputy Minister.
Assigning tasks to the school, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc asked Dr. Truong Thi Hien and the Party Committee, School Council, and Board of Directors to unite and look in the same direction to help the school develop strongly and make breakthroughs.

The Deputy Minister also suggested that Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education quickly complete the Board of Directors and leaders of the units; thereby creating synchronization in leadership work.
In addition, the school needs to review its internal regulations and rules to comply with general regulations of the State and the law, thereby creating a solid legal framework for school operations.
At the same time, the Deputy Minister suggested that the school rebuild its development strategy in the new period and context. According to the Deputy Minister, in the near future, the State will have specific investments for schools participating in training new programs, leading the trend, for example, Microchip Design Engineer.
Acceleration in the hinge phase
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Truong Thi Hien expressed her thanks to the Party Committee of the Ministry of Education and Training; the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Universities and Colleges; the Party Committee - School Council - School Board for their trust and confidence in her.
Dr. Hien believes that this is an opportunity for her to contribute and repay the affection of her predecessors and the trust of her current teachers. However, she acknowledges that this is also the heaviest responsibility that an individual can undertake.
According to the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, 2024-2025 is the final stage of the 2020-2025 term. This is the most important pivotal stage to stabilize and develop the school sustainably.
"This year, our school must, at all costs, fully complete the school's senior leadership team, positions that have been vacant for many years. After that, we will prepare for the new term, opening up many new development directions for the school," said Ms. Hien.

According to Dr. Truong Thi Hien, the story of innovation, integration and university autonomy has changed the mindset of educational management and administration, which is an unprecedentedly difficult challenge.
"I, along with the Party Committee and the School Council, are fully aware of our responsibilities to the more than 900 officials, employees and more than 26,000 students of the school. We will strive to promote the spirit of solidarity and creativity, build action plans and specific policies so that the school can become more and more stable and develop to new heights," said Dr. Hien.
At the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education also announced the decision to recognize Associate Professor, Dr. Chau Dinh Thanh and Bachelor Ho Thanh Cong as members of the University Council for the 2020-2025 term.
Up to now, the Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education for the 2020-2025 term has had full composition and structure according to regulations.
Dr. Truong Thi Hien, born in 1979, used to hold the position of Head of the Planning and Finance Department. In 2015, Ms. Hien was appointed as Vice Principal, the first female and youngest Vice Principal of the school in the past 62 years.
