Storm No. 10: Many points on the streets of Hanoi are partially flooded

On the afternoon of September 29, due to the influence of storm No. 10, there was prolonged heavy rain in Hanoi. Notably, in the rain, some flooded areas appeared on streets such as: Hoa Bang (lane 99), Tran Binh (People's Committee of Mai Dich ward), Hoang Quoc Viet (Electricity University), Le Trong Tan, Thien Duc railway tunnel, To Hieu, Quyet Thang, Phu La, Quan Nhan, Yen Nghia, tunnel No. 5, 6, Km 9 Thang Long Avenue...

According to records, by 5:00 p.m., most of the flooded areas had drained, leaving only the waterlogged area at underpass No. 5 and 6, Km 9 Thang Long Avenue, Yen Nghia. In particular, heavy rain also flooded the Dong Ngac Primary School yard, as well as the internal road next to Ecohome3 building in Dong Ngac ward (Hanoi). In addition, some roads around IA20 apartment building, Sunshine apartment building... in Phu Thuong ward (Hanoi) also recorded localized flooding, making traffic through these areas difficult.

Faced with the above situation, Hanoi Drainage Company Limited has arranged forces on standby at key points to handle flooding. Along with that, the company also reasonably operates the main pumping stations on the system: Yen So pumping station, Cau Buu pumping station, Dong Bong 1, 2 pumping station, Co Nhue pumping station, Da Sy pumping station, etc. to lower the water level on the system. Yen So pumping station operates 8/20 pumps at 4:00 p.m. to lower the water level on the drainage system. The gates must operate according to the correct procedure to ensure safety.

According to the forecast of the Northern Hydrometeorological Station, storm No. 10 has weakened into a tropical depression. From the evening of September 29 to noon of September 30, Hanoi will have moderate rain, heavy rain to very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Therefore, Hanoi Drainage Company Limited is continuing to closely monitor weather developments, deploy on-call work, handle drainage when it rains, and properly operate the sluice gates of the regulating lake and key pumping stations to lower the water level in the system according to regulations.
