Former principal of boarding school for ethnic minorities in Dak Nong arrested

On the morning of March 9, speaking with VietNamNet reporter, a leader of Dak R'lap District Police ( Dak Nong ) said that this unit had just temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, former Principal of the District's Secondary - High School and Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities to investigate the act of "embezzlement of property".

Previously, Mr. Nguyen Van Nam was accused of 12 serious violations, including taking advantage of his position as head to lower teachers' competition results in two consecutive school years (2020-2021, 2021-2022).

Then, based on the classification results of these 2 years, teachers are put on the payroll streamlining list (forced to quit) even though the teachers themselves always complete their professional work and do not violate the law.

In particular, Mr. Nam was also accused of many financial problems such as the daily meals of students, the problem of students voluntarily buying labor tools; not spending 12% of the money collected from extra classes on investment in facilities as prescribed.

In addition, Mr. Nam was also accused of taking advantage of his position for personal gain, such as receiving money for teaching without teaching, and directing the organization to illegally collect many amounts of money from the parents' association fund.

The Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province then established an inspection and verification team and concluded that some of the accusations were correct, so it recommended consideration and handling of the principal and related individuals.

In early 2023, while holding the position of principal, Mr. Nguyen Van Nam suddenly submitted a resignation letter and was approved by the Department of Education and Training of Dak Nong province.
