The parties will cooperate in researching strategies to develop new railway lines and stations connecting with Vietnam to improve logistics capacity.

Of which, SuperPort TM – a logistics port with an investment capital of 166 million USD, the first “super port” of the smart logistics network in the ASEAN region – will be the main transit center along the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway route.

That is the signed agreement between SuperPort TM with the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development (under the Ministry of Transport ) and China Railway 16 Vietnam Group Co., Ltd. (under China Railway Construction Corporation) to develop railway logistics infrastructure.

Accordingly, the parties will implement a strategy to develop the national railway network, optimizing the efficient transportation of goods to and from Vietnam SuperPort TM . This includes cooperation in researching strategies to develop new railway lines and terminals connecting to Vietnam SuperPort TM to improve logistics capacity.

Vietnam SuperPort TM , a multimodal logistics port located in Vinh Phuc, aims to be the first multimodal logistics port in Southeast Asia to achieve net zero emissions – positioned as a key transit hub along the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh railway route.

The agreement is expected to facilitate efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods within Vietnam and across borders.

With the memorandum of cooperation with China Railway 16 Vietnam Group Co., Ltd., the parties will also focus on building a railway freight terminal in Vietnam SuperPort TM and a railway line connecting with Vietnam's national railway.

In order to serve logistics services and cross-border freight transport between Vietnam and China as well as other countries in the region, Vietnam SuperPort TM will provide integrated logistics solutions, including planning, cargo handling, warehouse management, distribution, multimodal transport, etc. Thereby improving the efficiency and competitiveness of railway transport services.

Create added value for goods

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Director of the Department of Transport - Ministry of Transport, said that Vietnam and China have signed many important documents to promote infrastructure connectivity, improve transport capacity and facilitate cross-border trade.

In particular, the most recent is the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Transport and the National Development and Reform Commission of China on strengthening Vietnam-China railway cooperation. In which, the standard gauge railway lines connecting Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Lang Son - Hanoi and Mong Cai - Ha Long - Hai Phong are important routes.

The project not only enhances freight transport capacity, but also plays an important role in the economic development of border and regional areas.

Therefore, according to Mr. Cuong, the parties joining hands to build a transit center and connecting railway will help realize the above commitments with China, bringing many added values in freight transport when effectively taking advantage of the advanced multimodal logistics port project.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hien - Deputy Director in charge of the Institute of Transport Strategy and Development - said that the sustainable development goal and commitment to zero net emissions by 2040 that the port has proposed is completely consistent with the roadmap for developing a green and sustainable transport system.

“This strategic partnership is of great significance, not only promoting the effective development of transport infrastructure but also supporting the growth target of the logistics industry, enhancing trade relations between Vietnam and countries in the region,” said Ms. Hien.
