2-year-old girl lost for hours in a coffee plantation in the middle of the mountain

(Dan Tri) - A 2-year-old girl in Dak Nong was taken to the field by her relatives to be looked after while they went to pick coffee. The girl wandered around and got lost deep in the field for many hours.

On the afternoon of November 26, a leader of the People's Committee of Tan Thanh commune (Krong No district, Dak Nong province) confirmed that a rare incident had just occurred in the area when a 2-year-old girl got lost for many hours in a deserted coffee plantation in mountainous terrain.

According to initial information, on the afternoon of November 25, N. (2 years old) was taken to the field by relatives to pick coffee and take care of the plants.

At that time, the girl was playing alone near her relatives’ workplace. However, at around 4:30 p.m. the same day, relatives discovered that the child had left without them knowing.

Many people immediately spread out to search for the girl but to no avail. The incident was reported to the local authorities.

The People's Committee of Tan Thanh commune quickly mobilized the militia, the commune police, and dozens of local people to help search for the girl. However, the dark coffee plantation and the mountainous terrain caused many obstacles to the search efforts.

At 11pm the same day, the authorities discovered baby N. near a stream, about 2km from the initial location.

"The girl was fortunately found right on the bank of a stream. If the search had been delayed, who knows what could have happened," said the leader of Tan Thanh commune.

In response to the search efforts, Tan Thanh commune authorities gave special rewards to a number of individuals and units.
