The new Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Do Thanh Binh, is from Thoi Binh District, Ca Mau. He is currently a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, term 2021-2026. He has a master's degree in economics and has held positions such as Secretary of the Vinh Thuan District Party Committee ( Kien Giang ), Head of the Organization Committee of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman and then Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee... In October 2020, he was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee.

In May 2023, Mr. Hieu was transferred by the Politburo and appointed as Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee.
