Peaceful floating village of Kenh Ga

VHO - Kenh Ga, a small fishing village outside the dike in Gia Vien commune (Ninh Binh), is surrounded by rivers and limestone mountains, making the natural landscape very wild and peaceful.

According to the people of Kenh Ga, the village was formed by fishermen from all over coming here to make a living during the flood season. Gradually, they built houses scattered along the river banks, on the alluvial land and formed the village. Seen from above, Kenh Ga looks like a green, poetic oasis surrounded by rivers and immense rice fields.

Called a floating village because it is located outside the Hoang Long River dike, Kenh Ga is flooded 1-2 times every year. Currently, the village has over 600 households living there.

In Kenh Ga, in addition to popular means of transportation such as motorbikes, cars, bicycles, etc., boats are an indispensable means of transportation in every household.

Mr. Tran Thien Chien in village 1 Kenh Ga shared: He has been building and repairing boats for the villagers for more than ten years now, every week he builds about 2 new composite boats to serve the people.

People here mainly live by fishing, transporting raw materials on the river, and even running restaurants and hair salons on ships and boats.

Children play happily on the porch of the house with country animals such as crabs, frogs...

People are concentrating on repairing the boat's machinery.

This place is also famous for Kenh Ga hot spring, one of the precious open-air salty hot springs that nature has bestowed on the floating village. Currently, there are businesses investing in resorts and some households have spent money to build swimming pools and hot mineral baths to attract tourists .
