The Ministry of Education and Training requires Hanoi to put an end to the scene of parents lining up all night to buy application forms.

On the morning of August 16, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a conference to summarize the 2022-2023 school year and deploy tasks for the 2023-2024 school year.

Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, said that in the 2022-2023 school year, the entire sector has excellently completed the assigned tasks. The Capital's Education and Training Department was also voted as one of the 10 typical events of the Capital in 2022.

The positive changes in the Hanoi education and training sector in the past school year took place across all levels of education, in public and non-public schools.

The Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also acknowledged that there are still limitations and shortcomings. One of them is that the planning of the school and classroom network in some inner-city districts is not suitable, leading to a shortage of public schools in some places; some old schools have not been renovated or repaired in time, affecting the quality of teaching and learning in schools.

The efficiency of student streaming after junior high school and high school is still not high. Admission at the beginning of the school year still has many difficulties, the number of students per class after admission is much higher than the regulations in the school charter at all levels in some areas. The effectiveness of applying information technology in management and direction is still modest.

Therefore, according to Mr. Cuong, one of the contents and tasks that the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has identified as the focus of implementation in the 2023-2024 school year is to research, develop plans, and implement solutions to overcome limitations and shortcomings of previous school years, especially in the work of exams and admissions at the beginning of the school year.

“In the past school year, some public schools have done very well in online enrollment. However, some private schools have had limited online enrollment.

Therefore, starting from this school year, Hanoi City is determined to implement online enrollment, including public and private schools, to ensure fairness, transparency, and avoid troubles like in the past time," Mr. Cuong emphasized.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son suggested that in the new school year 2023-2024, Hanoi needs to promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in education .

In particular, Hanoi City Education needs to focus on "quality" in all aspects of teaching-learning, testing-evaluation; ensure equipment infrastructure, information security; ensure correct, sufficient, and timely industry data to serve management work; and improve the capacity of management staff and teachers.

“In the new school year, there is a lot of work to do, but in the work of recruiting students at the beginning of the school year, Hanoi should stop the scene of parents lining up all night to buy and submit application forms. In the age of digital technology and modern management, the capital is leading the country, but this is not the case. Definitely, next year, this phenomenon will not happen again. The Director of the Department of Education and Training is very determined, so I think it can definitely be done,” said Mr. Nguyen Kim Son.
