The world's first AI minister

(Dan Tri) - Diella, the world's first AI Minister, was assigned to manage public procurement to reduce corruption in Albania.

Prime Minister Edi Rama introduced Diella, a unique "Minister of AI", which means "Sun" in Albanian.

Diella appears as a woman dressed in traditional dress, marking a bold step by Albania in applying artificial intelligence to state management.

Before being appointed to the position of “Minister”, Diella debuted earlier this year as an AI virtual assistant on the e-Albania platform.

This chatbot has effectively supported people and businesses in accessing state documents through voice commands and issuing documents with electronic stamps, contributing to significantly reducing delays in administrative procedures.

Prime Minister Rama stressed: "Diella is the first cabinet member without a physical presence, created by AI. She will contribute to making Albania a country with public tenders completely free of corruption."

Under the plan, Minister AI Diella will be responsible for managing and allocating public tenders that the government contracts with private companies. This is an area that has been the source of many corruption scandals in Albania, and entrusting it to AI is expected to bring transparency and fairness.

However, the Albanian government has not yet released details about the human supervision mechanism for Diella, nor how it will address potential risks of manipulating this artificial intelligence bot.

This raises questions about security and accountability in this new management model.
