Many modern urban constructions

From a low-lying, swampy land that existed for hundreds of years, up to now, Vu Yen Island on the northern bank of the Cam River has successfully made a spectacular "turnaround", becoming the most modern urban area on the northern tourist map of the city. It is expected that at the end of this September, Vincom Mega Mall Royal Island, the new commercial center of Vu Yen Island, will be inaugurated and put into operation.

The Vu Yen Island Amusement, Recreation, Housing and Ecological Park Project was approved by the Prime Minister , with a total investment equivalent to 2.4 billion USD.

During the 2020 - 2025 term, Hai Phong city also made a strong breakthrough mark, through the basic completion of the Infrastructure Project of the New Urban Area North of Cam River, with typical works: Political - Administrative Center, City Conference - Performance Center...

In Hai Duong province (old), the Prime Minister issued a decision approving the planning of Hai Duong province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. Accordingly, by 2030, Hai Duong will become a modern industrial province, a dynamic center of the Red River Delta region. By 2050, Hai Duong will meet the criteria of a centrally-run city.

Hai Duong's socio-economic development space is oriented on 4 axes, including the economic development axis along the rivers. Notably, Ecorivers Hai Duong Urban Area, built by the investor Ecopark Hai Duong Investment Joint Stock Company, is part of the province's strategy to develop riverside residential and urban areas, chosen by many people.

After the merger, Hai Phong city increased in area and population, leading to strong impacts on the city's development strategy. Director of the Hai Phong City Planning Institute Chu Ngoc Ha commented that the advantage of expanding space helps the city reduce pressure on the old urban core area, creating land funds to form new urban areas according to international standards, modern and smart.

Urgent adjustment of master plan

In the Political report presented to the first Congress of the City Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, the City Party Committee clearly stated the specific goals, tasks, and timelines, including urgently organizing the establishment and adjustment of the Hai Phong City Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 (completed in 2025) and the Hai Phong City Master Plan to 2040, with a vision to 2050, to ensure consistency and connectivity.

According to the direction of comrade Le Ngoc Chau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee: in the last months of 2025, the Department of Construction needs to quickly carry out the task of advising and organizing the establishment of a general plan for the new Hai Phong city to replace the separate general plans of the two previous localities.

Deputy Head of the Planning and Architecture Department, Department of Construction Tran Cao Nguyen said that in the 2025 - 2026 period, the city will review the current status, integrate data from existing plans, determine the vision and spatial orientation to develop a master plan to submit to the Prime Minister for approval. In the 2026 - 2027 period, it will conduct planning, survey, build plans, collect opinions from relevant parties and complete them to submit to the Prime Minister for approval, ensuring that "planning goes first, projects follow".

In terms of urban space expansion, the new planning is very important. Architect Vo Quoc Thai, Chairman of the City Architects Association, said that it is necessary to research and review the master plan of each locality, then merge it into the city's general plan. The highlight is the seaport city; connecting urban areas closely following the strategic economic development orientation, prioritizing the maximum promotion of the advantages of each region...

According to Master Nguyen Van Minh, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Economics and Management (Thanh Dong University), the new planning is an opportunity to rebuild the city's socio-economic development space in a modern and sustainable direction, creating new multi-center urban areas.

The construction of a new master plan, including urban planning from both the west and east of Hai Phong, will effectively contribute to the process of building Hai Phong by 2030, becoming a modern, civilized, ecological and livable industrial seaport city of the Southeast Asian region, according to the goals set by the City Party Committee.
