ANTD.VN - In 2024, the NAPAS system processed 9.56 billion transactions, an increase of about 30% in the number of transactions and 14.4% in transaction value compared to 2023, while ATM withdrawals continued to decrease.
The above information was given by Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, General Director of National Payment Corporation (NAPAS), at the Conference on deploying tasks for 2025.
In the above transactions, the NAPAS 247 fast money transfer service increased by 33.5% in the number of transactions and 14.9% in the transaction value. At the same time, the NAPAS 247 fast money transfer service using VietQR code grew by 118% compared to the same period in 2023, accounting for 1/3 of the total number of transactions of the NAPAS 247 Fast Money Transfer service.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, ATM transactions continue to decline. ATM transactions processed through the NAPAS system will decrease by 19.5% in quantity and 19.1% in value in 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. To date, the proportion of ATM transactions accounts for only 2.63% of total transactions through the NAPAS system.
“The above results clearly reflect that people's need to use cash in payment is decreasing and being replaced by more convenient payment services such as NAPAS 247 express transfer, money transfer/payment by VietQR code” – Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh said.

NAPAS leaders also said that in 2024, closely following the top goal of organizing the operation of a safe, stable and smooth clearing switching infrastructure, NAPAS has deployed solutions to strengthen supervision, ensure continuous operation of the system as well as processing capacity to meet the market's cashless growth needs.
During peak times, the NAPAS system processed more than 35 million transactions per day and with a capacity of up to 3,500 transactions per second. In terms of service quality, the service level commitment (SLA) index in 2024 for financial switching and electronic clearing services exceeded the commitment level and reached 99.997%...
Regarding products and services, in 2024, NAPAS continued to achieve many remarkable results.
In particular, NAPAS has completed QR payment connection between Vietnam and Laos for 07 Vietnamese banks and 14 Lao banks; at the same time, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with UnionPay International (UPI) on implementing cross-border payment services via QR code between Vietnam and China.
Along with that, NAPAS has expanded connections with more Vietnamese commercial banks to participate in providing QR code payment services between Vietnam and Thailand and Cambodia to serve the payment needs of Vietnamese tourists traveling to work or travel in the above countries.
NAPAS has coordinated with the RAR Center and C06 to deploy utilities serving social security and paying for public services on the VneID application; Deploying the first phase of social security payment services to link social security numbers with bank accounts, Mobile Money accounts for 17 banks and 01 telecommunications company; Deploying online payment of public service fees/charges on VNeID with fees for issuing criminal records, residence services (temporary residence, permanent residence). In particular, the service of paying fees/charges for issuing criminal records is being expanded by the Ministry of Public Security nationwide.
In particular, regarding the implementation of online public service payment, NAPAS has successfully carried out more than 1.4 million public service payment transactions with a corresponding value of more than VND 1,000 billion; an increase of 210% in the number of transactions and 128% in transaction value compared to 2023.
In addition, NAPAS has also expanded payment services for 10 public service groups; connected 12 more banks, bringing the total number of units accepting payment via VietQR code on the National Public Service Portal to 38 banks/units; Coordinated with 71 Ministries/Sectors and localities to implement payment of fees and charges via VietQR code, NAPAS domestic cards and bank accounts; Coordinated with the Ministry of Education and Training to implement payment of university admission registration fees in 2024; Successfully piloted payment of fees and charges on the Lang Son Digital Border Gate platform...
In addition to the above activities, in order to strengthen coordination in preventing fraudulent and counterfeit transactions, NAPAS has also coordinated with the Banking Association to take the lead in developing a Process to support the handling of accounts/cards related to transactions suspected of fraud and counterfeiting for banks; supporting the provision of transaction information/data via the NAPAS system from police agencies investigating and preventing fraud crimes in cyberspace.
