Accordingly, on the morning of July 1, the 10th grade benchmark approval council of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will approve the benchmark scores for 10th grade admission to specialized groups and in the afternoon of the same day, will approve the benchmark scores for 10th grade admission to non-specialized groups.

According to Tuoi Tre Online, many public high schools in the top enrollment areas in Hanoi are planning to have their admission scores about 1 point lower than last year.

Some teachers believe that the "variable" causing this year's benchmark scores to cool down is in the literature subject.

In fact, the structure of the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi with three subjects: math, literature, and English are all familiar and basic. However, the literature subject surprised many students because it was "out of the norm".

Immediately after the exam, many teachers were concerned that candidates who did not study the literary works in the exam thoroughly might not get high scores in the literary essay section. In addition, the questions in the exam were basic, suitable for diligent and meticulous candidates, so high scores on the exam sometimes did not fall on candidates with good literary ability but on those who studied hard.

On July 1, many autonomous public schools and private schools that parents are interested in will also announce admission scores based on exam scores, such as Phan Huy Chu - Dong Da High School, Marie Curie High School, Luong The Vinh High School, and Lomonoxop. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training allows these schools to choose the method of considering transcripts or exam scores or using both methods...

In 2023, the school with the highest benchmark score in the non-specialized block is Chu Van An High School with 44.5 points, an average of 8.9 points/subject; followed by Kim Lien High School (leading Dong Da district) with 43.25 points, an average of 8.65 points/subject; Viet Duc High School (leading Hoan Kiem district) with 43 points, an average of 8.6 points/subject; Phan Dinh Phung High School (leading Ba Dinh district) with 42.75 points, an average of 8.5 points/subject.

The standard score calculation for non-specialized groups is literature + math score (coefficient 2) plus foreign language score (coefficient 1) plus priority and incentive points (if any).

The specialized block benchmark score is calculated as: the total score of 3 exam subjects plus the non-specialized block (coefficient 1) plus the specialized subject score (coefficient 2) plus priority and incentive points (if any).

For specialized subjects, students also need to ensure the conditions of the application.
