Speaking on the sidelines of the National Assembly on the morning of October 30, Chairman of the Culture and Education Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh said that to prevent school violence, the fundamental, long-term issue is to build a school culture for students.

According to Mr. Vinh, in addition to the time spent at home receiving education from parents and grandparents, most children today receive education from school. Therefore, forming a school culture for students is a long-term solution to reduce school violence.

- School violence has always existed, but recently the level of violence and the way it is done is very worrying. It is not just physical violence but also insulting each other's dignity.

What is more worrying is that friends and the surrounding community have not yet taken a clear stance and have not actively participated in preventing violence. We have talked about this for a long time.

However, this requires a lot of perseverance and determination to express disagreement with social violence. Because we are building a happy society, especially a regime where we build people who love each other, everyone for everyone, everyone for everyone.

*What causes the alarming situation of school violence?

- There are many reasons, partly due to the impact of movies, partly due to the impact of social networks. Nowadays, students' access to information on social networks and the internet is much easier than before, so they have early access to information and images, including unhealthy information.

Therefore, it is necessary to build resistance for children. In addition to guiding them to access more healthy information and limit exposure to negative information, it is necessary to help them recognize what is good and what is bad and should not follow.

- The role model of adults and family is very important to children. Adults have full awareness and children often learn and follow adults. Therefore, adults must see the responsibility of setting an example to children, so as not to affect the next generation.

Adults should act in a restrained and exemplary manner when around children. Do not expose children to negative adult behavior, but rather expose them to more positive behavior.

For example, if an adult tries to run a red light on the street, children will immediately remind them. This is because children are taught from a young age to obey traffic laws.

Children are very special. We need to try to expose them to more positive things. I emphasize again, how to build their resistance, to distinguish between good and bad. They will follow the good and reject the bad.

*But nowadays, families and teachers are quite busy to help children build resistance as you mentioned?

- It's not about being busy or not busy. It's about each person's awareness, each time, each place, each situation. It's not just now that we start teaching our children.

For example, the military semester program is only 3 weeks long, but the students come back with very good behaviors. They fold their own blankets, express their love to their parents... In just 3 weeks, we have created very good discipline for the students. So, school is the place where students study for 12 years, so how can it not form a culture for them?
