President Luong Cuong believes that no matter what position he holds, Cuban Ambassador Hernandez Guillén will continue to be a bridge between the two countries and actively contribute to promoting the special Vietnam-Cuba relationship.

On the afternoon of November 7, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillén who came to say goodbye on the occasion of the end of his term in Vietnam.

At the reception, President Luong Cuong highly appreciated the Ambassador's contributions during his term, which significantly contributed to promoting the traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and special trust between Vietnam and Cuba.

The President sent his warm regards and deep thanks to General Raul Castro Ruz; First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel Bermudez and the leaders of the Cuban Party and State for their affection for Vietnam, and looked forward to welcoming First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz Canel Bermudez back to visit Vietnam.

President Luong Cuong stated that the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba, nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh , leader Fidel Castro and generations of leaders of the two countries, is a priceless asset of the two peoples and needs to be preserved from generation to generation.

With sincere thanks to the President for taking the time to meet him, Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillén once again congratulated President Luong Cuong on the occasion of being elected by the Vietnamese National Assembly to hold a new important position.

Ambassador Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillén informed the President about the situation in Cuba in recent times; affirmed that despite economic difficulties, as well as the impact of the embargo imposed by the United States and the complicated fluctuations of the world situation, the Cuban Party, Government and people remain steadfast on the chosen path; strive to overcome all challenges and obstacles, and promote the achievements of the revolution.

The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and ministries and branches of Vietnam for creating all conditions for him to successfully complete his tasks; affirming that working in Vietnam in recent years is a great honor, especially the sincere feelings that the Vietnamese side always has for him.

The Ambassador said that over the past time, the relationship between Cuba and Vietnam has been constantly strengthened; affirmed that the solidarity, friendship and wholehearted assistance of Vietnam will always be deeply imprinted in the hearts of every Cuban person; and at the same time believed that in 2025, when the two countries celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, there will be more practical activities, contributing to strengthening the special brotherly relationship between the two countries.

President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam always appreciates and remembers the solidarity and sincere support, both spiritual and material, that Cuba gave to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification as well as in the current national construction and development; and will never forget the famous saying of leader Fidel Castro, "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice its blood."

Sharing the difficulties that Cuba is going through, the President affirmed that Vietnam will do its utmost to support Cuba within its capacity and with all the love from its heart. Vietnam is always ready to share its experience in areas that Cuba needs such as food production, renewable energy, and consumer goods production.

President Luong Cuong said that the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam from September 26-27, 2024, marked an important milestone in bilateral relations, deepened political ties, strengthened trust, and opened up new directions in bilateral economic, trade, and investment cooperation. He also affirmed that both sides will do their best to materialize the agreements reached during this important visit.

The President expressed his firm belief that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, headed by First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz Canel Bermudez, the brotherly country of Cuba will continue to firmly defend the achievements of the Revolution and achieve new successes on the path of building socialism.

The President once again reaffirmed Vietnam's consistent stance calling on the United States to lift the embargo against Cuba and remove Cuba from the list of countries that sponsor terrorism unilaterally imposed by the United States.

The President believes that with his affection for Vietnam, no matter what position he holds, the Ambassador will continue to be a bridge between the two countries and make positive contributions to promoting the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba./.
