Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of October 3, at the 1st Congress of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, the Central Organizing Committee announced the Politburo's decision to appoint comrade Tran Van Lau, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, to hold the position of Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

At the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, announced the Politburo 's decision to appoint 83 comrades to join the Vinh Long Provincial Party Executive Committee and 24 comrades to join the Standing Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

At the same time, the Politburo's decision on the transfer and appointment of comrade Tran Van Lau, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City, to hold the position of Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, and 6 Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee, including comrades Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Lu Quang Ngoi, Nguyen Minh Dung, Kim Ngoc Thai, Le Van Han, Lam Minh Dang, was announced.

In his acceptance speech, the new Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, Tran Van Lau, expressed: This is a great honor, but also a very heavy responsibility assigned by the Party Committee and the people, especially in the new period when the Politburo mobilized and transferred him to work in Vinh Long province - a land rich in revolutionary tradition and full of affection.

The new Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee pledged to continue to maintain his qualities and ethics, to devote all his abilities, intelligence and enthusiasm to unite with the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, to arouse the desire for development; to lead and direct comprehensively and resolutely to complete the goals, targets and resolutions set out by the Congress.

Biography of the new Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee Tran Van Lau:

Comrade Tran Van Lau, born on March 5, 1970; hometown: Hoa Tu 1 commune, My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province, now Hoa Tu commune, Can Tho city.

Comrade Tran Van Lau has the following qualifications: Master of Party and State Administration Building, Bachelor of Political Science majoring in Social Management; Senior Political Theory.

Awards: Victory Flag Medal (2013), Glorious Soldier Medal, First, Second, Third Class.

Work experience: From February 1985 to January 1990: Student of Military Region 9 Cadet School, Student of Engineering Officer School, majoring in engineering technical command.

From February 1990 to October 2020: Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, Senior Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Senior Colonel, Colonel, holding the following positions: Platoon Leader of Phu Loi Battalion, Soc Trang Provincial Military Command; Assistant to the Policy Department, Head of the Policy Department, Deputy Chief of Politics of Soc Trang Provincial Military Command; Political Commissar of Long Phu District Military Command; Deputy Political Commissar, Political Commissar of Soc Trang Provincial Military Command; Colonel, Commander of Soc Trang Provincial Military Command; Member of the Standing Committee of Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee, term 2015-2020 (from May 2018).

From July 1, 2025: Deputy Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee.

From October 3, 2025: Appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee.
