On September 22, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc issued a document directing a general review and consultation on a master plan for facilities and teaching equipment at all public schools in the city.
Recently, the press and public opinion have reflected the situation of some schools in the city having seriously degraded facilities, directly affecting the quality of teaching and learning.
To promptly remedy the above situation, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City to preside over and coordinate with the People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones to conduct a general review of facilities and teaching equipment at all public schools; classify the level of damage and degradation; advise on a comprehensive treatment plan, including urgent repairs and new investment plans in areas with rapid population growth, to avoid overload. The report must be submitted to the City People's Committee before September 30, 2025.
In the immediate future, for Vinh Tan Primary School (Vinh Tan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City will preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance to immediately arrange tables, chairs and necessary equipment to replace them, ensuring safe and adequate learning conditions for students; complete and report the implementation results to the City People's Committee before September 23.
According to the plan, 284 sets of two-seat desks and chairs (including 170 new sets and 114 used sets) will be transferred to Vinh Tan Primary School.
Previously, according to feedback, this elementary school had degraded classrooms, old desks and chairs, peeling table tops, and rusty table legs.
Immediately after that, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City issued a document requesting relevant units to review and report on the situation of facilities and teaching equipment to promptly direct solutions, in order to ensure students' learning and teaching conditions at schools.
Following the direction of the head of the Ho Chi Minh City government, the People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones in the city proactively arrange and advance funds from the local budget according to regulations to immediately repair serious damage, ensuring safety for students and teachers; review and immediately report schools at risk of insecurity and degraded classrooms to the Department of Education and Training before September 25.
The Department of Finance coordinates with the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City to advise the City People's Committee on the plan to allocate funds and arrange capital to repair, upgrade, and build new school facilities in the period of 2025 - 2030 according to regulations.
