"Sister-in-law" is currently the leading work at the Vietnamese box office, with a revenue of 34 billion VND after 4 days of release, according to data from the independent box office statistics unit Box Office Vietnam.

The film is set at a death anniversary in the countryside, where five women from different generations and backgrounds gather at the family's ancestral house.

Ngoc Trinh plays Ut Nhu, whose husband comes from a wealthy family but gambles, is in debt and always leaves his wife shouldering billions of dong in debt.

Ngoc Trinh's role is a woman who is impulsive, emotional, and easily angered. Although protected by her older sisters, she is shallow-minded and only sees her sister-in-law Hai Nhi (Viet Huong) as an "ATM" to help her pay off her debts.

Coming from a country girl, and getting married because she got pregnant before marriage, Nhu felt guilty for bringing shame to her family. Faced with the questioning and accusations of her older sisters, Nhu could only get angry and resentful because she could not refute.

Through the events, Ngoc Trinh said she was very nervous and scared when accepting to participate in this project.
