According to Reuters news agency on August 26, in the lawsuit, xAI claimed that Apple and OpenAI had "locked the market to maintain a monopoly and prevent innovators like X and xAI from competing."

Apple is now partnering with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT into its operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers.

The lawsuit alleges that the exclusivity agreement with OpenAI prevented Apple from featuring X and Grok in the App Store. The company says it is seeking billions of dollars in damages.

"A million reviews with an average score of 4.9 for Grok, but Apple still refuses to include Grok in any list," billionaire Musk angrily shared on social network X on August 25. He founded xAI in 2023 with the goal of competing with OpenAI and other leading chatbot developers.

An OpenAI spokesperson denied the allegation, calling it “part of Mr. Musk’s ongoing pattern of harassment.” Apple representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Earlier this month, Mr. Musk threatened to sue Apple, writing on X that Apple's behavior "makes it impossible for any AI company other than OpenAI to reach the No. 1 spot on the App Store."

Following that statement, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman responded: "This is a surprising allegation given what I've heard about Mr. Musk manipulating the X platform to benefit himself and his company, while also disadvantaging competitors."

Some X users also disputed the xAI founder's allegations, saying that rival apps like DeepSeek and Perplexity had ranked number one on the App Store after Apple and OpenAI announced their partnership.

This is not the first time billionaire Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI. In 2024, he sued the company and its founder, Sam Altman, in California, alleging breach of contract, by putting commercial interests ahead of its original mission of developing AI "for the common good of humanity."

OpenAI denied this at the time, saying that Mr. Musk used litigation and social media as pressure tools, even making a "fake offer" worth 97.4 billion USD to buy OpenAI and damaging the company's business relationship.

It is known that billionaire Musk co-founded OpenAI with Mr. Altman in 2015, before leaving in 2018 due to disagreements in direction.
