Traffic road in Thoi Hung area collapsed into Tra Noc river.

In June 2025, a landslide appeared on the traffic route in Phu Loi area, Hung Phu ward, about 25m long, about 7m deep inland, causing the prefabricated roof and fence of Mr. Nguyen Huu Hanh's house to completely collapse into Ben Ba river. Mr. Hanh said: "Previously, the concrete road in front of my house showed no signs of cracking; the road was clear and easy to travel. However, since the construction units started the investment project to build the North-South expressway in the East phase 2021-2025, due to many barges transporting sand turning around, the water swirled into the shore, leading to landslides. I recommend that the relevant sectors and agencies soon have a solution to overcome the landslide on the above road section so that people can live in peace and ensure travel."

Also in June 2025, in the Thoi Hung area, Thoi An Dong ward, a landslide occurred on a road section about 15m long, causing the entire concrete road surface and embankment to collapse completely into the Tra Noc river. In addition, because the Tra Noc river is quite deep, has many ships and boats, and has many "frog jaw" points, the risk of further landslides is very high, affecting the property and lives of people. Ms. Tran Thi Mui in the Thoi Hung area said: "It is currently the rainy and stormy season, I am very worried that the landslide could spread to my house."

Previously, in May 2025, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung's solid concrete house of about 80 square meters in Thoi Khanh A hamlet, Truong Thanh commune, was completely eroded into the O Mon river. The landslide caused a 35 meter long rural road to erode 2.5 meters into the mainland, creating a "frog's jaw", threatening the safety of neighboring households. At the same time, in the Long Dinh area, Thoi Long ward, on the left bank of the Bang Tang river, a landslide also occurred with a total length of 46 meters, 4 meters into the mainland, causing traffic disruption and making travel difficult...

After landslides and riverbank collapses, local authorities were present promptly to mobilize forces to overcome the situation and support people in moving their assets and structures. At the same time, they coordinated propaganda and encouraged people whose houses were along the riverbanks to move their belongings and properties to safe places and not to sleep overnight in houses near areas with high risk of landslides...

According to the report of the Standing Office of the City's Civil Defense - Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue Command, since the beginning of 2025, there have been more than 40 landslides with a total length of nearly 1,200m, directly affecting 39 households. Total property damage is estimated at about 6.8 billion VND.

Currently, in the rainy season combined with high tides, landslides in the city are increasing in number. City voters recommend that the authorities continue to coordinate with local authorities to survey areas at high risk of landslides to promptly find solutions to reinforce them, limit large-scale landslides, and promptly have a plan to fix landslides for smooth trade.
