Speaking with VietNamNet, Mr. Le Quang Tu Do said that organizations and individuals who take advantage of social networks and cyberspace to spread fake news or false information to defame the honor and reputation of other organizations and individuals are violating the law.

According to current regulations of Vietnamese law, these acts are strictly prohibited and have strong sanctions, including criminal measures.

“Personally, I support Vingroup’s lawsuit. I hope that not only Vingroup but other organizations and individuals should also use the lawsuit channel more, bringing the case to court to protect their legitimate rights, honor, and reputation. Because that is the way to behave that is both in accordance with regulations and in line with the civilized trend of the times,” Mr. Tu Do expressed.

The Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information also said that he had received a request from Vingroup when the group sued 68 organizations and individuals.

“The state management agency will consider based on current regulations to clarify the contents related to the false information mentioned by Vingroup.

At the same time, we are also working with cross-border platforms such as Meta, YouTube, TikTok... to handle illegal content," Director Le Quang Tu Do informed.

On September 10, Vingroup Corporation said that less than 24 hours after announcing the lawsuit against 68 domestic and foreign organizations and individuals for spreading false information, more than 50 social media channels/pages proactively removed fabricated and distorted clips and content.
These channels/pages belong to many social networking platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, YouTube... Some of them are on the list of 68 subjects sued by Vingroup.

Among the more than 50 account holders, some have proactively posted public apologies and corrections on their personal pages; others have sent letters of apology to Vingroup and the authorities. Typically, the BDS commentator Doan Chinh channel has publicly posted an apology and correction.

People need to improve their resistance to fake news.

Sharing more about this issue, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education , said that the problem is not only for Vingroup but also for the whole society in the context of entering the digital age.

Accordingly, to solve the problem at its root, a comprehensive approach is needed, including strong legal tools, social, educational and technological solutions.

“The Law on Cyber Security, the latest revised Penal Code and related documents have provisions, but they need to be implemented with a more drastic spirit, linked to the responsibility of competent authorities in detecting, preventing and handling quickly.

At the same time, international cooperation in handling fake news is also very necessary, because social networks are cross-border spaces," Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son said.

For businesses, he said it is necessary to proactively build a quick response mechanism, provide transparent and timely information, and be ready to use legal tools to protect reputation.

A business that dares to stand up against fake news not only protects itself, but also contributes to building general trust in the business environment of the entire country.

For the people, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son emphasized verifying information, not rushing to share things of unknown origin, and most importantly, being aware that every statement and action online is associated with civic responsibility.

“When netizens know how to respect the truth and stop for a second to verify before clicking the share button, they themselves have contributed to stopping the flow of fake news,” Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Son informed.
