Previously, at 7:00 a.m. on September 17, the Thriving 16 ship departed to transport passengers from Rach Gia Port to Bai Vong Port, Phu Quoc special zone. At 9:30 a.m., two men were discovered drifting at sea. Captain Le Van Nhien turned the ship around to rescue the two victims and then continued the journey.
At 7:55 a.m. the same day, the Supedong ship departed from Rach Gia Port to Bai Vong Port. At around 9:30 a.m., two people (one male, one female) were discovered drifting at sea. Captain Cu Hai Ha ordered the ship to return to pick up the two victims, then continued the journey.
At 10:30 and 10:50 the same day, the captains of the two ships proceeded with the procedures to hand over the four victims to the border guards. According to the four victims, they were fishing for squid at sea when they encountered big waves and strong winds, causing the boat to sink. After being treated, the four people's health was stable.
The An Giang Provincial Border Guard Command directed units to monitor the incident and coordinate to resolve issues related to the accident. The Board of Directors of Thanh Thoi Company Limited and some passengers donated 18 million VND to the 4 victims...
