Can Tho City veterans compete in patriotism

In the period of 2020-2025, the Veterans Association at all levels in Can Tho City will carry out the patriotic emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans" launched by the Vietnam Veterans Association in conjunction with emulation movements, programs, and campaigns. At the same time, the Association at all levels will build and consolidate many models to help members stabilize their lives and participate in building their homeland.

Since 2020, the Trung Hung Commune Veterans Association has implemented the model of "War veterans cleaning the roads", contributing to ensuring safety for traffic participants, especially in the rainy season. The model has attracted 20 officers and members of the Veterans Association to participate. At first, the veterans cleaned the roads by hand, but now the association has mobilized and improved 3 tillers to clean the roads. From the beginning of 2025 to now, the Trung Hung Commune Veterans Association has organized 2 campaigns to clean the roads in the commune, with a total length of 14km; at the same time, it mobilized people to keep the environment clean and ensure traffic safety.

Mr. Le Quoc Sinh, Chairman of the Commune Veterans Association, said: “Through the implementation of the model, the roads are increasingly clean and beautiful, and people travel safely. Many people volunteer to contribute money to buy oil to run the tiller, give cakes and water to the veterans participating in the road cleaning.”

From the beginning of 2025 until now, the Trung Hung Commune Veterans Association has carried out many projects and emulation tasks to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, the 1st Can Tho City Patriotic Emulation Congress (2025-2030), party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, term 2025-2030... Accordingly, the Commune Veterans Association organized 2 campaigns to collect 176 kg of pesticide bottles; planted 1,500 mangrove trees along canals; mobilized 42 gifts for veterans in difficult circumstances; gave 2,000 notebooks to students who overcame difficulties to study well, on the occasion of the opening of the 2025-2026 school year.

In the coming time, the Commune Veterans Association will continue to participate in projects and tasks to improve the quality of the criteria for a model new rural commune; consolidate the skillful mass mobilization models managed by the Commune Veterans Association; organize the construction of at least 1 new model of "Bright - green - clean - beautiful road".

In the past 5 years, the War Veterans Association at all levels in Can Tho City has effectively carried out the following movements and campaigns: "All people unite to build a cultural life"; "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas"; "Protecting the environment, saying no to plastic waste"... Up to now, the Association at all levels has organized 88,262 propaganda sessions on environmental protection, participating in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas; clearing bushes on over 2,670km of roads; building and repairing 152 traffic bridges, renewing 7,525 flagpoles; planting 960,000 trees and ornamental flowers of all kinds; installing 6,794 light bulbs to light up traffic roads... The city's War Veterans Association has contributed more than 133,200 working days, over 14 billion VND and donated 65,640m2 of land to carry out the projects. In addition, the association at all levels mobilized cadres and members to contribute to various charity funds, programs to care for war veterans and people in difficult circumstances with more than 17 billion VND.

The War Veterans Association at all levels has effectively implemented the movement "War Veterans help each other reduce poverty and do good business ". In particular, the Association at all levels mobilized many capital sources of about 367.6 billion VND, helping over 10,800 War Veterans Association members borrow to invest in production and business; mobilized the construction of 669 houses for members; launched a war veteran competition to increase production around the house to improve living standards, earning nearly 89 billion VND. Currently, the city's War Veterans Association has 4 cooperatives, 62 cooperative groups, 29 small and medium enterprises, 6 farms, 2,498 households and 679 business households owned by war veterans, creating jobs for more than 10,240 workers. The movement "War Veterans help each other reduce poverty and do good business" has helped 1,094 households escape poverty, reaching 157.66% of the plan; the rate of war veteran member households with a good and rich standard of living reached 54.26%.

In the coming time, the Association of War Veterans of Can Tho City will continue to promote the patriotic emulation movement associated with caring for and helping War Veterans to improve their lives, develop their family economy, reduce poverty, and get rich legally; actively participate in socio-economic development, strengthen national defense and security; contribute ideas to build and protect the Party, government, socialist regime, and protect the people... All levels of the War Veterans Association will compete to carry out projects and tasks to welcome the 1st Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
