Specifically, a source from the US Federal Election Commission said that as of 3:00 p.m. on November 13 (Vietnam time), the Republican Party had won 219 seats out of 435 seats in the House of Representatives, surpassing the statutory threshold of 218 votes to become the majority in this legislative body, while the Democratic Party only had 211 votes.

The Republicans' gains came after decisive victories in Nebraska, California and Pennsylvania. Their slim majority could be strengthened when final results from California and Alaska are announced.
