Proposal to install traffic lights at the intersection in front of the gate of Quang Tri Pedagogical College

Information from the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee (TSC) said that the unit sent a document to the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board and Quang Tri Pedagogical College (CĐSP) regarding strengthening traffic safety at the intersection of Le Thanh Tong and Nguyen Dinh Chieu streets, Dong Ha City (intersection in front of the gate of Quang Tri Pedagogical College).

Accordingly, the intersection of Le Thanh Tong Street and Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street is a project item of the Song Hieu Bridge Road Project, invested by the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, currently under construction, not yet accepted, handed over and put into use. However, the scope of this intersection is about 200 meters west of the gate of Quang Tri Pedagogical College and attracts a large amount of traffic passing through here.

A report from Quang Tri College of Education shows that every day, there are more than 1,000 students of all levels and school staff and teachers passing through the above intersection. Meanwhile, the traffic volume on the route through this intersection is quite large, running at high speed, with the risk of traffic accidents, especially during rush hour after school.

To ensure traffic safety here, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee recommends that the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board immediately study and direct relevant units to add speed bump clusters and school signs on all four directions to the intersection; in the long term, competent authorities should consider allowing traffic regulation at the intersection using traffic lights. For Quang Tri College of Education, it is necessary to strengthen coordination with the traffic police force, organizations, unions in the area and the Parents' Association to effectively carry out propaganda work, raise awareness of law enforcement on order, traffic safety, and traffic culture for students of the school.
