Proposal to allocate 750 billion VND to upgrade self-opening walkways

Vietnam Railway Corporation has just proposed allocating budget capital to upgrade 297 self-opening walkways into level crossings.

Construction of new level crossings (upgrading, renovating and installing equipment to turn them into automatic warning level crossings or level crossings with guards) using the central budget capital source for the medium-term plan 2021-2025.

However, in the 2021-2025 period, the medium-term capital source will only focus on upgrading and renovating railway infrastructure, stations, freight yards, etc. to increase train capacity and meet rail transport requirements. Project items according to the roadmap in the Project have not been prioritized for implementation.

The project, if completed early, will eliminate 297 locations with very high potential risks of traffic safety, while creating favorable conditions for people's travel, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality and the country.
