What will the university benchmark scores be like in the North and South?

From 20 points or more, candidates from the Northern region account for more than half.

The total number of candidates in block A00 (math, physics, chemistry) nationwide is 162,200. Of which, 20 provinces and cities from Hue to the North (generally called the North) have 79,521 candidates, accounting for 49%. The remaining 14 provinces and cities from Da Nang to the South (generally called the South) account for 51%.

However, with high scores of 20 and above, Northern candidates have an absolute advantage.

Specifically, from 20 A00 block scores, nationwide there are 72,317 students, of which the North has 42,100 students, accounting for 58%.

From 21 points, the whole country has 60,021 students, the North has 35,930 students, accounting for 60%.

From 22.5 points, the whole country has 43,089 students, the North has 26,931 students, accounting for 63%.

The proportion of candidates in the North continues to increase sharply from the 23.5 to 30 mark. For example, from the 26 mark, candidates in the North account for 69%, equivalent to 3/4 of the total score of 26 or higher in the whole country.

At very high scores of 28.5 and above, the rate increases to 76%.

At the absolute score mark, the whole country has 8 candidates with 30 points, of which the Northern region has 7 candidates.

The same thing happened in blocks D01 and C00. Nationwide, there are 350,655 D01 candidates, of which 177,864 are from the North, accounting for 51%.

The percentage of candidates in the North who scored 20 points or higher was 64%. From 22 points or higher, this figure was 70%. From 26 points or higher, the percentage increased to 81% and reached 100% at the two highest scores of 28.5 and 29.

For block C00, candidates in the Northern region account for 60.5% of the 20-point mark or higher, 65.7% of the 23-point mark, 71.7% of the 25-point mark, 80% of the 27-point mark and 93.8% of the 29-point mark.

In block A01, although the ratio is still inclined towards the Northern region, the difference is lower than the above 3 blocks, mainly below 60%.

In the B00 group, candidates from the Southern region are not at a disadvantage. Partly because the number of B00 candidates from the South is overwhelming, accounting for 62%. At most of the score thresholds in the range of 20-29, candidates from the North and South are quite balanced. Even at the range of 23.5-26.5 points, candidates from the South surpass the 50% threshold.

With this correlation, the benchmark scores of Northern universities are expected to have a significant difference compared to Southern universities . The estimated difference is 2-2.5 points.

Candidates who score in highly competitive ranges in the North such as 20-24.5 for A00, 20-23.5 for A01 and D01, 20-26 for C00, can consider applying to schools in the South.

From 21.5 points or less, block D01 has an advantage over block A00

Although D01 candidates are at a disadvantage at high scores, the situation changes from 23.5 points down.

The number of D01 candidates increased sharply from the 23.5 mark, approaching block A00 at the 22-point mark and surpassing block A00 at the 21.5-point mark. At this position, block A00 has 54,227 candidates and block D01 has up to 60,742 candidates.

At the 19-point mark, block D01 has 159,164 students, nearly double the number of candidates in block A00. The chart below shows that in the range of 15-21.5 points, block D01 candidates completely dominate.

With an abundant source of candidates at this score range, it is very likely that lower-ranked schools will not reduce their admission scores compared to 2024.
