Overview of the meeting.

Comrade Vu Trong Lam - Director, Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House - Truth said, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024) and the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the National Political Publishing House - Truth issued a Plan to coordinate the organization of the National Scientific Conference "Dien Bien promotes its potential and advantages for sustainable tourism development".

The workshop was organized to contribute to providing a scientific basis for analyzing and evaluating tourism potential; the effectiveness of tourism development resources in the overall socio -economic picture of Dien Bien province; evaluating the achieved results; thereby, analyzing the "bottlenecks" that need to be removed, the issues arising in tourism development in Dien Bien province in particular, the socio-economic situation of Dien Bien province in the coming time; forecasting the impact factors, proposing directions and solutions to promote sustainable tourism development. According to the Plan, the workshop will be held on March 17, 2024 in Dien Bien province.

Comrade Vu Trong Lam said that the National Political Publishing House Su That is closely coordinating in building the program, detailed script of the workshop, workshop content, preparing workshop proceedings, a number of speeches and introductions as assigned.

At the meeting, members of the Organizing Committee of the Workshop reported on the results of preparations regarding time, location, scale of organization, leaders, participants, and discussions of the Workshop. Up to now, the Organizing Committee has received 41 articles from scientists from ministries, departments, branches; units under Dien Bien province, tourism and travel businesses, etc. The work of reviewing and making a list of guests to attend the workshop is being urgently prepared. On the sidelines of the workshop, there will be an exhibition and introduction of a number of published publications and documents.

Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Ha Van Sieu said that in the propaganda work, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Dien Bien province have recently coordinated to organize a press conference to introduce Dien Bien National Tourism Year 2024, a national scientific conference and a series of response activities. At the same time, propaganda was deployed on the digital media channels of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration.

On March 4, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration had a working session with the People's Committee of Dien Bien province on some contents to prepare for the organization of the national scientific conference. The Vietnam National Tourism Administration assigned the Institute for Tourism Development Research to directly provide professional support for the Conference. The topic of the conference is very consistent with the general policy of the Government and the Prime Minister on promoting the rapid and sustainable development of Vietnam's tourism. Regarding the program, the conference will have an opening and a discussion section. The Deputy Director said that the conference needs to attract opinions from relevant subjects such as managers, experts, scientists and especially opinions from tourism businesses, investors, airlines, etc.

On the side of Dien Bien province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vu A Bang expressed his gratitude for the attention and support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, and the Truth National Political Publishing House in organizing the national scientific conference. Currently, the Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee is directing specialized agencies to urgently promote preparations for logistics, reception, guests, program content, media organization, preparation of documents, publications, and gifts for display on the sidelines of the conference. Comrade Vu A Bang affirmed that Dien Bien province will make every effort to successfully organize the National Tourism Year 2024 as well as the upcoming national scientific conference.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong said that Dien Bien is a province with a lot of potential and advantages to develop tourism. Being selected as the host locality to organize the National Tourism Year 2024 and the National Scientific Conference "Dien Bien promotes potential and advantages to develop sustainable tourism" will be a very valuable opportunity for the province to promote tourism development.

The Deputy Minister also expressed his excitement with the participation of the Truth National Political Publishing House in the tourism industry and hoped that the Publishing House would continue to stand side by side with the tourism industry in many activities in the coming time. In particular, through this National Scientific Conference, it will publish proceedings of great scientific and practical value for tourism development.

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong emphasized that in addition to the purposes and requirements stated in the draft, the National Scientific Conference "Dien Bien promotes its potential and advantages to develop sustainable tourism" is also an opportunity to introduce and promote the potential and advantages of tourism development of Dien Bien province to domestic and international investors and tourists.

Regarding requirements, the Workshop needs to clearly demonstrate the content of tourism as a comprehensive service industry, bearing a deep cultural imprint and having a very high connectivity. At the same time, in terms of organization, it is necessary to focus on attractiveness through adding technological elements, video clips, presentation of papers, roundtable discussions, expert exchanges, etc.

Regarding the content, it is necessary to pay attention to increasing exchanges on tourism product development and tourism promotion in Dien Bien province. This content will attract many opinions, discussions with rich practicality and very specific solutions. Focusing on the scientific nature, novelty, and applicability in the discussions, the Deputy Minister suggested that Dien Bien could add more content on developing "Net Zero" tourism that does not harm the environment, is carbon neutral, and has a circular economy... This is a trend of the times that Dien Bien has the potential and advantages to implement and apply in practice.

Highly agreeing with the opinions of the leaders of the Truth National Political Publishing House and the People's Committee of Dien Bien province, Deputy Minister Ho An Phong emphasized that the main role of Dien Bien province is the most important, the national scientific conference focuses on solutions for developing tourism in Dien Bien province in the overall national tourism. The Deputy Minister affirmed that on the side of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism strongly supports and will closely coordinate with Dien Bien province and the Truth National Political Publishing House in organizing this conference.
