Suspend homeroom teacher who beat student, causing bruising on both legs

(Dan Tri) - A 6th grade male student at Le Quy Don Secondary School in Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province was beaten with a ruler by his homeroom teacher, leaving both legs bruised. The homeroom teacher has been temporarily suspended from work pending investigation by the authorities.

On the evening of November 13, speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Le Van Tam - Principal of Le Quy Don Secondary School, Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam - confirmed that an incident of a homeroom teacher beating a student, causing bruises on both legs, occurred at the school.

According to initial information, a few days ago, during physical education class, two 6th grade students of the school had a conflict that led to a fight, one student had a mark on his back.

After the incident, Ms. E. (homeroom teacher of the 6th grade class of the 2 students) used a ruler to hit the soft tissue on both legs of a student, causing bruising.

Mr. Tam admitted that the homeroom teacher was wrong in beating the student. She was angry when she hit the student. The homeroom teacher should have invited the parents of the two students to resolve the matter.

Teacher Tam also said that the school had worked with the students and homeroom teachers and had taken the beaten student to the doctor.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Duy Xuyen district - said that the head teacher admitted her mistake, and the Department directed the school and the head teacher to make a report.

"Currently, the principal has suspended the homeroom teacher to assist in the investigation. After the student's health assessment results are available, we will handle the situation according to the severity," said Mr. Sau.

According to Mr. Sau, the school and the Union Executive Committee have visited and encouraged students and their families.
