The business community is growing stronger and stronger.

At the recent meeting with business representatives on the occasion of Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said that every year, on Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day October 13, we have a special occasion to express gratitude and honor outstanding businesses and entrepreneurs who have made important contributions to the country's socio-economic development.

In nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation policy, with the correct policies and guidelines of the Party and the State, the Vietnamese business community has continuously developed strongly in both quantity and quality. They inherit the spirit of patriotism, self-reliance, and always devote themselves to the development of the country. In particular, a number of enterprises have reached regional and world levels, contributing to enhancing the position and prestige of Vietnam in the international arena.

Currently, Vietnam has more than 930,000 operating enterprises, along with about 14,400 cooperatives and more than 5 million business households. In the first 9 months of the year, more than 183,000 new enterprises have entered or re-entered the market. This is the key force in creating wealth and material, contributing significantly to economic growth, creating jobs and increasing income for workers, while contributing to hunger eradication, poverty reduction and social stability. The force of enterprises and entrepreneurs not only contributes about 60% of GDP but also accounts for 85% of the total number of workers and 98% of the total import-export turnover of the whole country.

In the first 9 months of the year, the economy has clearly recovered, achieved many positive results in many fields, and has been highly appreciated by international organizations and the business community. The accumulated state budget revenue in the first 9 months of the year reached 85.1% of the estimate, up 17.9% over the same period last year. Total import-export turnover reached over 577 billion USD, up 16.2% over the same period; trade surplus is estimated at 21.5 billion USD. Notably, the industrial production sector recovered rapidly and became the main driving force for overall economic growth. These results have a great contribution from the business community, especially enterprises in the private sector.

With the spirit of creation, the Government and the Prime Minister have always accompanied businesses, strongly implemented institutional reforms, improved the investment and business environment to facilitate business development. Recent surveys show that the business situation has become much more optimistic, showing that confidence has been consolidated and enhanced: the rate of businesses "positively" assessing the macro economy in the next 12 months is 5 times higher than the previous survey.

Vietnamese entrepreneurs need to take advantage of opportunities and innovate to continue to develop.

However, according to Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, we also need to frankly acknowledge that the development of the business community and enterprises still has limitations. Development potential and opportunities have not been effectively exploited, as most enterprises are still small in scale, have low competitiveness, weak management skills and low operational efficiency. Many enterprises still maintain a short-term business mindset, lacking long-term strategic vision. The number of large enterprises capable of leading the supply chain and international cooperation is still very limited, and the ability to take advantage of opportunities from the Fourth Industrial Revolution is not strong.

In addition, some businessmen still do not respect business ethics, social responsibility and law compliance. Law violations by a small number of businessmen still exist. In addition, many policies to support businesses have not been implemented in a timely manner, and administrative reforms and the business investment environment have not met practical requirements.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized: “The world is witnessing major changes, from the emergence of new industries to the shift of investment capital flows, creating both challenges and opportunities for countries.” He said that Vietnam not only needs to achieve growth targets but also green, sustainable growth, focusing on science, technology and innovation, instead of relying solely on resource exploitation and investment capital. New growth drivers need to come from the green economy, circular economy and digital economy.

Vietnam is aiming to become a modern industrialized and high-income country by 2045. To achieve this, the Ministry of Planning and Investment believes that it is necessary to focus on simplifying administrative procedures and accompanying businesses in accordance with the Prime Minister's directive: "If said, do it, if committed, do it". At the same time, it is necessary to ensure a fair business environment, decentralize and amend inappropriate regulations, with consultation from the business community.

In addition, there is also a need for a mechanism to develop large enterprises, playing a pioneering role in industries with competitive advantages and leading the industrialization and modernization of the country. It is necessary to study large and feasible policy packages to support enterprises and promote new growth drivers. Restructuring industries, focusing on processing and manufacturing, along with the digital economy, green economy and circular economy to create key industries.

In addition, the policy of training high-quality human resources needs to be prioritized. Training highly skilled human resources with international standards, while strengthening the network of Vietnamese intellectuals at home and abroad, is a core factor for sustainable development.

According to Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, the Government needs to increase dialogue, listen to opinions from businesses and prevent negative behaviors, harassment, and difficulties for businesses.

Regarding business associations, he said that associations need to proactively research the industry's challenges and opportunities, advise, support and connect businesses to help them overcome difficulties and embrace new opportunities.

For the business community, he called on businesses to coordinate with the Government in implementing innovative and breakthrough solutions. Large businesses need to set an example, pioneering in big, difficult and new tasks, solving national problems to create momentum for economic development, creating room for development for small and medium enterprises in all fields. At the same time, improve management capacity, innovate technology and cooperate to build the Vietnamese brand in the international arena.

"With the support of the Government and the efforts of the business community, Vietnamese entrepreneurs will certainly continue to grow stronger, contributing to the prosperity and independence of the country," said the Minister of Planning and Investment.
