Parents eagerly await the unprecedented opening ceremony

Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen, whose child is in 5th grade at a private school in Binh Trung ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that at her child's school, every year, before the opening ceremony, the school conducts a survey of parents and students to see if they want to attend the opening ceremony or not to make arrangements.

For a long time, her daughter has not been very interested in the opening ceremony, giving her place to the first graders, so in the past few years, she has not attended the ceremony.

But a few days ago, I reminded my sister to definitely register me for the opening ceremony. I told my mother that this year the special opening ceremony will be connected online nationwide and broadcast live on TV.

Only then did Ms. Quyen know that this year there would be a historic opening ceremony combined with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Ministry of Education and Training in the grand atmosphere of the 80th National Day.

The mother also felt excited and nervous. This year, her child was in the final year of high school, so the opening ceremony would be even more meaningful. In the past few days, the mother and child had washed and ironed their uniforms, preparing to go to the opening ceremony early on the morning of September 5th.

Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Mai, whose child is entering first grade in Ho Chi Minh City, said she and her child are really looking forward to this year's opening ceremony.

Ms. Mai's joy at the start of the new school year was multiplied many times over when the school held a welcoming ceremony for new students combined with the national opening ceremony in the context of the 80th anniversary of the country's independence.

Imagining the scene of holding her child's hand on the first day of school in that atmosphere, Ms. Mai felt moved.

Meanwhile, Ms. Thuy Ngoc, in Hanoi, said that in the past two days, when she went to school to pick up her child, she clearly saw the atmosphere of the new school year opening ceremony through the flags and decorations.

Every year, her two older children sometimes attend the opening ceremony, sometimes not. This year, the school announced a special opening ceremony, and both children insisted on attending.

She wants her children to attend this year's special opening ceremony to feel the heroic and enthusiastic atmosphere in the context of the country entering a new era - the era of national growth.

Through that, she hopes her children understand that innovation and growth must come from each individual, from education ; the opening ceremony is just one day but learning is a lifetime.

That day, Ms. Ngoc will also take the morning off work to take her children to kindergarten to attend the opening ceremony, to feel with her children the journey of learning and the journey of effort ahead.

Established Student Council, supported flood victims in special opening ceremony

This year, the 80th anniversary of National Day, the Opening Ceremony of the 2025-2026 school year is held in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training), marking the development journey of the country's education.

The opening ceremony will be held at the National Convention Center from 8:00 to 9:30 on September 5, and will be broadcast online or via VTV1 at all educational institutions nationwide, from kindergarten to university.

This is considered a rare event in the history of Vietnamese education when all universities and vocational education institutions, from public to non-public, will simultaneously hold opening ceremonies on the same day as preschool and general education levels.

This is also the first opening ceremony of a government operating under a two-tier model, marking a strong innovation step of the country.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Education and Training has asked schools in the area to prepare carefully for the unprecedented opening ceremony in history.

Schools have carefully prepared transmission lines and shading to create conditions for their students to participate in the opening ceremony fully and meaningfully. Previously, the Department also directed schools that are undergoing construction, repair, and painting to speed up the progress to avoid being in disarray right before the opening day.

In difficult cases, temporary solutions need to be developed so that students can attend the opening ceremony.

Mr. Le Hong Thai, Principal of Phan Van Tri Primary School, Cau Ong Lanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that before participating in the opening ceremony with the whole country, the school will have a number of activities for students.

Activities such as welcoming and introducing students, teachers, and nannies of grade 1; the school sending gifts to grade 5 students; grade 5 students welcoming; giving gifts to grade 1 students entering the common school.

In particular, to contribute to promoting self-management, practicing leadership skills and creating a dynamic and creative learning environment for students, this school year the school has established a Student Council.

This is the core force, representing the voice, aspirations and spirit of learning and training of all students in the school.

The school also announced that it would not accept flowers for the opening ceremony. Instead, the school hoped that parents and organizations would convert them into school supplies, books, or gift certificates to support students.

Ms. Pham Thuy Ha, Principal of Dang Tran Con Primary School, Ho Chi Minh City, shared that this year's opening ceremony has many special marks in the context of celebrating the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Education, and the country operating under a two-level government model.

To ensure the ceremony is held seriously, solemnly, meaningfully, safely, practically and effectively, the school has developed a plan to organize the opening ceremony including the following contents: welcoming ceremony for first graders, and an art program performed by teachers and students of the school.

From 8:00 to 9:30, all delegates, officials, teachers, staff and students fully attended the general program, performed the flag-saluting ceremony, sang the National Anthem in sync with the Ceremony at the National Convention Center.

During the ceremony, the school also launched a campaign for parents, teachers, staff and students to support people affected by floods in the North and North Central regions; and launched the STEM Club “My Vegetable Garden”.

To prepare well for watching the opening ceremony online, the school has prepared a screen and sound system to ensure everyone can watch in the best way. For first and second grade students, the school has arranged for them to attend in the auditorium.

“Participating in the opening ceremony with the whole country, this year's preparations are easier and more economical but still ensure solemnity.

The school has also sent information to partners not to send flowers and congratulatory gifts, which would be wasteful, but instead to support the scholarship fund, give scholarships to students, or join hands with the school to contribute to support people affected by floods in the North and North Central regions," said Ms. Pham Thuy Ha.
