Comrade Nguyen Hong Quang holds the position of Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa City

On the morning of January 18, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Thanh Hoa City held the 18th Congress of Delegates for the 2024-2029 term. Attending the congress were comrade Le Anh Xuan, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People's Council; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and 133 official delegates.

Implementing Resolution No. 1238/NQ-UBTVQH15 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels for the 2023-2025 period, the program of coordinated action of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa City and Dong Son District at the beginning of the 2024-2029 term, the Fatherland Front Committee and member organizations of the two localities have comprehensively implemented the tasks of the Front, achieving many positive results.

The two units have focused on studying, propagating and implementing the Resolution of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress at all levels for the 2024-2029 term, the Politburo 's directives and conclusions on "Promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" and practical and effective programs and projects.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front proactively collects people's opinions and recommendations to reflect to Party and State agencies, the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels with increasingly better quality.

The monitoring and social criticism activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations have had many clear changes. Social security work, Tet care for the poor, relief work, and support for people affected by storm Yagi have been carried out promptly. The implementation of the Campaign to support housing construction for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties according to Directive 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee has been effectively deployed. The coordination between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Party committees, People's Councils, People's Committees, and member organizations has become increasingly closer and more effective.

From January 1, 2025, Dong Son district officially merged into Thanh Hoa city. On the basis of inheriting, supplementing and perfecting the action program of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa city and Dong Son district, with the theme "Solidarity - Democracy - Innovation - Development", the congress set out 10 main targets and 6 action programs with key goals, tasks, and specific solutions to build the Fatherland Front of Thanh Hoa city increasingly stronger, contributing positively to the overall development of the city.

In their speeches at the congress, delegates focused on analyzing, evaluating, and clarifying the achieved results, while pointing out the remaining limitations in performing tasks and proposing major, key solutions to successfully implement the goals and tasks set out in the 2024-2029 term.

Comrade Le Anh Xuan, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Thanh Hoa City, delivered a speech directing the congress.

Speaking at the congress, Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People's Council Le Anh Xuan emphasized: The 18th Congress of the Thanh Hoa City Fatherland Front, term 2024-2029, is an important event, marking the journey of construction and growth of the city's Fatherland Front after Dong Son district merged into Thanh Hoa City.

To successfully implement the goals and tasks set out in the new development period, the Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People's Council requested the City Fatherland Front to continue to seriously and effectively implement Resolution No. 02-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on continuing to innovate and improve the quality of activities of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations. Coordinate with organizations to do better in educating political ideology, cultural traditions, and revolutionary history to foster the spirit of solidarity of all classes of people in performing local political tasks.

Proactively grasp the ideological situation and people's lives to advise the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the City People's Committee to promptly resolve issues arising at the grassroots level. Effectively carry out social supervision and criticism work according to Decision No. 217-QD/TW and Decision No. 218-QD/TW of the Politburo, focusing on supervising the implementation of grassroots democracy regulations, citizen reception work and handling of complaints and denunciations, especially outstanding, urgent and prolonged cases.

Along with that, it is necessary to perform well the core role of advising on the extensive implementation of patriotic emulation movements and campaigns, focusing on the second phase of the Campaign to support housing construction according to Directive No. 22-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Campaign "City residents speak good words, do good deeds, act friendly", the program to build advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas... to ensure substance and effectiveness.

The Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Thanh Hoa City requested the City Fatherland Front to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation, expand and diversify forms of gathering and uniting the people, and strongly direct activities to the grassroots. Along with reviewing and evaluating the effectiveness of old models, it is necessary to build new models to ensure that in the 2024-2029 term, the City Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations each unit has at least 1 new model deployed.

The City Fatherland Front needs to play a good role in presiding over consultation, coordination and unification of actions of member organizations. Actively participate in contributing ideas to build the Party, build the government, and create social consensus in organizing the implementation of political tasks.

With the spirit of democracy, solidarity and high consensus, the Congress democratically elected 100 members of the City Fatherland Front Committee with the number, composition and structure ensuring regulations.

The new Thanh Hoa City Fatherland Front Committee was launched to take up its duties.

At the first conference, the Thanh Hoa City Fatherland Front Committee for the 2024-2029 term democratically elected a Standing Committee of 5 members. Comrade Nguyen Hong Quang, member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, holds the position of Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City Fatherland Front Committee.
