The 100 billion VND Mekong Lover cruise ship, built by Vietnamese businesses, will be completed after 18 months, promising to contribute to promoting tourism in the Southwest region.
Mekong Lover is designed to international standards, with 32 cabins with balconies, integrated with amenities such as an infinity pool, bar, restaurant, and stage. The investor, who is operating a number of cruise tours on the Mekong River, plans to organize traditional performances such as opera, Khmer dance, and traditional Vietnamese-Cambodian art.
The yacht is designed in Indochinese architecture, inspired by the century-old house of Huynh Thuy Le in Sa Dec city, the setting in the movie. L'Amant . The ship's wood carvings, arched windows, and hand-made ceramic tiles recreate the neoclassical architecture of the Southern region.
FTG Chairman Dang Bao Hieu said that most international cruise ships currently operating on the Mekong River spend time in Cambodia, with Vietnam as a transit point. With Mekong Lover, the stay in Vietnam will be extended, allowing tourists to experience the culture and landscape of the Southwest.
"We hope this new project will help tourists immerse themselves in local life, from traditional craft villages, floating markets to meals with rich local flavors," said Mr. Hieu.
The cruise ship targets potential new markets from Southeast Asian countries, along with high-paying Vietnamese tourists, contributing to the development of tourism in the Mekong River region.
