Groundbreaking ceremony of the project symbolizing Vietnam-Laos friendship and cooperation

On the morning of October 2, in Vientiane province of Laos, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Vang Vieng District Hospital expansion project took place. This is a meaningful gift from the Party, State and people of Vietnam to the Party, State and people of Laos, announced during the State visit of President Luong Cuong to Laos last April.

Attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam; Mr. Khamphanh Sithidampha, Secretary and Governor of Vientiane Province; leaders of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Committee; leaders of the Vientiane Department of Health , and many representatives of relevant agencies of the two countries.

According to a VNA reporter in Vientiane, speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam said the Vang Vieng District Hospital Expansion Construction Project has profound humanitarian value, reflecting Vietnam's special concern for the health care development and social welfare of the Lao people.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam affirmed that this project will contribute to enhancing the capacity of medical examination and treatment for people in Vang Vieng district and neighboring areas, improving the quality of medical services, reducing overload at existing facilities, and creating a better working environment for medical staff, aiming to provide safe and effective patient care.

On the Lao side, Mr. Khamphanh Sithidampha affirmed that the groundbreaking ceremony of the Vang Vieng District Hospital expansion project in Vientiane province is an important milestone, a vivid symbol of cooperation between the two Parties and the two States of Laos and Vietnam in supporting infrastructure development, ensuring the quality of medical examination and treatment services for the people of Vientiane province, especially the people of Vang Vieng district now and in the future, to be increasingly better.

On behalf of the Party, government and people of Vientiane province, Mr. Khamphanh Sithidampha expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam for supporting the construction of this meaningful project.

The project has a total investment of 3 million USD, implemented in Viengkeo village, Vang Vieng district, Vientiane province in the period of 2025-2026. The project is invested by the Department of Health of Vientiane province, and designed and constructed by COECO Lao Construction Company Limited.

The project scale includes a 2-storey main building with a floor area of 3,320 m², arranging the departments of examination, emergency, obstetrics-pediatrics, surgery and a 43-bed accommodation area. In addition, there are also auxiliary items such as a medical gas house, a power plant, a wastewater treatment station, synchronous infrastructure with a 2,439 m² yard and road, a power supply-drainage system and advanced medical equipment such as elevators, AHU systems supplying clean air to operating rooms, ventilators, inpatient beds, testing and endoscopy equipment./.
