Strengthening friendship between Vietnam and Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU

The Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day in Brussels, aiming to strengthen cooperative relations with Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU through meaningful activities.

According to a VNA reporter in Belgium, on the evening of September 23 (local time), in the capital Brussels, in a solemn and cozy atmosphere, the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, together with the Vietnamese Delegation to the European Union (EU), held a reception to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The event is an opportunity for Vietnam to introduce the image of a dynamic, integrated and friendly country, while strengthening cooperative relations with partners in Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU.

The event was attended by about 450 guests, including the First Vice President of the Belgian Senate, Andries Gryffroy; President of the Brussels Legislature, Bertin Mampka; President of the Walloon Legislature, Willy Borsus; Chief of the Cabinet Office of the King of Belgium, Vincent Houssiau; Secretary General of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Theodora Gentzis; Chairman of the European Parliament (EP) Committee on International Trade, Bernd Lange; Director General for Southeast Asia of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Leila Fernández Stembridge, along with many officials of the Belgian Royal Family, government and parliament, EU agencies, ambassadors, chargé d'affaires and diplomats of countries, representatives of businesses, scholars, and journalists in Belgium and the EU.

On the Vietnamese side, all officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium/EU, representatives of agencies, organizations, businesses, the Vietnamese community and students studying in Belgium and Luxembourg attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao reviewed Vietnam's important achievements over the past 80 years in the fields of politics, economics, culture-society and foreign affairs, which are the results of the efforts, solidarity and persistent dedication of the Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam .

The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam will continue its path of comprehensive international integration, green and sustainable development, and at the same time play an active and responsible role in the international community, contributing to peace , stability and common development.

Regarding foreign relations, 2025 marks 35 years of Vietnam-EU relations and 5 years of implementing the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), opening up opportunities for extensive cooperation in trade, science and technology, digital economy, climate change response, culture-tourism and defense-security.

Vietnam-Belgium relations continue to develop strongly, highlighted by the State visit of the King and Queen of Belgium in April 2025, opening up new potential for cooperation in high technology, logistics, healthcare, renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.

With Luxembourg, the two sides effectively implemented the Green Finance Partnership, aiming to expand to other potential areas in the coming time.

At the ceremony, guests congratulated Vietnam on its achievements, especially in the process of innovation, integration and sustainable development.

Secretary General of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Theodora Gentzis, expressed her impression of Vietnam's dynamic development and increasingly important role in the Asia-Pacific region and on the international arena, affirming that Belgium will continue to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam.

Chairman of the EP's International Trade Committee, Bernd Lange, emphasized that the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has brought many practical benefits, and expected that economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the EU will continue to develop sustainably.

First Vice President of the Belgian Senate, Andries Gryffroy, highly appreciated the achievements of parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, while EEAS representative, Ms. Leila Fernández Stembridge, acknowledged Vietnam's active and responsible role in regional and global issues.

On this occasion, guests enjoyed traditional Vietnamese music performances by artists from the Vietnam Cultural Center in France.

The smooth melodies of the t'rung, zither, monochord... bring guests to the beautiful country of Vietnam and the hospitable Vietnamese people.

Photos of Vietnamese landscapes such as Ha Long Bay, Hoi An ancient town, and terraced fields in the northern mountains further add to the Vietnamese atmosphere./.
