The rice market today recorded a slight decrease in raw rice, averaging 50 VND/kg. However, fresh rice prices remained stable, with transactions generally slow. In the Mekong Delta, the amount of imported goods was low, and domestic and export rice remained at around the same level.
Rice price today September 6
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang, OM 18 (fresh) rice is currently at 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg; IR 50404 (fresh) 5,700 - 5,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 (fresh) 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 (fresh) 6,100 - 6,200 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 is around 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg. Many localities have recorded sporadic transactions, traders buying moderately, prices remain stable.
Rice price developments
In the raw rice group, IR 504 decreased by 50 VND/kg, to 7,700 - 7,850 VND/kg. CL 555 remained at 7,750 - 7,900 VND/kg, OM 5451 remained at 7,700 - 7,900 VND/kg, OM 380 from 8,200 - 8,300 VND/kg, OM 18 was higher at 9,600 - 9,700 VND/kg. Finished rice OM 380 is currently 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, while IR 504 is at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.
In areas such as Lap Vo, Sa Dec (Dong Thap) or An Giang , the amount of rice arriving at the port is low, warehouses are slow to buy, prices fluctuate little. Transactions are assessed as stable, without major fluctuations.
By-products and retail markets
By-product prices remain at a familiar level, from 7,300 - 9,000 VND/kg. OM 504 broken rice is currently 7,300 - 7,400 VND/kg, bran prices are from 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg.
In the retail market, rice prices remained stable. Nang Nhen rice remained at the top at VND28,000/kg, Huong Lai at VND22,000/kg, Thai fragrant rice at VND20,000-22,000/kg, and regular rice at VND13,000-14,000/kg. Jasmine, Taiwanese, Soc, and Japanese rice... also remained unchanged.
Export markets
Vietnam’s rice export prices remained unchanged from yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken fragrant rice is currently priced at 455 – 460 USD/ton, Jasmine at 545 – 549 USD/ton, and 100% broken rice remains at 333 – 337 USD/ton.
Overall, on September 6, the domestic rice market was quite quiet, with only raw rice prices slightly decreasing, while most of the remaining segments kept prices stable, both domestically and for export.
