During the April 30 - May 1 holiday, instead of spending tens of millions of dong on plane tickets to Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Da Nang , etc., many families choose to stay near Hanoi to save money. Therefore, most suburban homestays have been fully booked since the beginning of March.
Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Mai (Hai Ba Trung District) said that because she decided to plan her trip late, it took her a lot of time to find a resort in the suburbs of Hanoi. She called dozens of places to ask about booking rooms, but homestays in Soc Son, Ba Vi... all had no rooms available for the occasion of April 30 - May 1.
"Because the plane tickets for long-distance travel were too expensive, my family decided to go on vacation at a homestay near Hanoi. But because we booked the room too quickly, our plan was ruined. Even when we moved to Moc Chau, I couldn't find a room. Most resorts and homestays announced that they only had rooms available from May 2," said Ms. Mai.
Confirming the "room shortage" situation during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, Ms. Tran Anh Tuyet, manager of the resort in Dong Do (Soc Son district, Hanoi) shared that during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, all the villas here were fully booked, with only one vacant room left on May 2.
Accordingly, guests have booked a resort room here since the beginning of March 2024, the price to rent a villa on weekdays here is fluctuating from 6 million VND/day, including all amenities such as spa, coffee, swimming pool, portable speakers...
"If you rent on weekends, the price will be more expensive, ranging from 8 - 9 million VND/day. The villas for rent usually have a capacity of 10 - 12 guests. During the April 30 - May 1 holiday, many tourists from Hanoi or from the Central region such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh... and the Northern mountainous region such as Cao Bang, Ha Giang also come here to book a lot of rooms," Ms. Tuyet informed.
According to Ms. Tuyet, the homestay here has guests all year round. On big holidays like April 30 - May 1, the number of tourists and accommodation guests often increases 4 - 5 times. Service prices on these days are slightly higher than usual, but the number of guests booking rooms is still very high.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, manager of a resort in Ba Vi (Hanoi), said that the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year are long, so guests booked rooms very early, with some guests registering as early as March to secure a spot. Currently, all rooms are fully booked until May 2.
According to Mr. Thanh, the room rental price during the April 30 holiday this year is only equivalent to the weekend price, 10-20% higher than during the week.
Mr. Thanh said that it is too late to find a room of your choice at homestays, villas, and resorts on the outskirts of Hanoi. Some of the rooms that are still available are not beautiful.
“Even many resorts in Hoa Binh with prices of 6-7 million VND/night were fully booked during the 5-day holiday. Or large villas with prices of 10-12 million VND/night were all booked. In the past 3-4 years, many tourists have traveled to the suburbs of Hanoi, so they have experience and often book rooms 2-3 months before the holiday to have more options,” Mr. Thanh added.
Similarly, Mr. Tran Tien Hung, manager of a resort in Dong Anh, said that 20 bungalows at the resort were also booked a month in advance. “There were so many bookings that we ran out of rooms since the beginning of April. Most of the bookings were made from the beginning to the middle of March,” he said.
Regarding the room rates during the holidays, Mr. Hung said they increased by about 20% compared to the weekend rates. If on normal days, guests book bungalows for about 1.5 million VND/room/night, the price during the holidays is more than 1.9 million VND/room/night.
Explaining the "full rooms" situation at many homestays on the outskirts of Hanoi during this year's holiday, Mr. Hung predicted that it might be because the airfares this year are expensive, so many families do not choose to travel far but instead look for resorts and homestays on the outskirts of the city with airy, luxurious spaces.
"The current mentality of many people is to want to experience a resort space instead of investing in expensive long trips. Therefore, homestays that are well-invested, have diverse designs, are romantic, close to nature, and are environmentally friendly... are reasonable choices. Because in addition to luxurious rooms, resorts and homestays also attract guests with private spaces for guests to walk, cycle, sightsee, have swimming pools, fishing lakes, play team building...", Mr. Hung analyzed.
