Specifically, in Decree 80, the regulations on the time for managing gasoline prices are as follows: The time for managing gasoline prices is implemented every Thursday.
In case the price management period coincides with the Lunar New Year holiday, it will be implemented as follows: If Thursday falls on the last day of the Lunar New Year (29 or 30 of Lunar New Year), the petrol price management will be implemented on the preceding Wednesday. If Thursday falls on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd day of Lunar New Year, the petrol price management period will be implemented on the 4th day of Lunar New Year.
In case the price management period coincides with a holiday according to regulations, it is implemented as follows: If Thursday coincides with the first day of the holiday, the time for managing the petrol price will be implemented on the previous Wednesday. If Thursday coincides with the remaining holidays, the time for managing the petrol price will be implemented on the first working day after the holiday.
In case the price of petroleum products fluctuates abnormally, affecting socio -economic development and people's lives, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is responsible for reporting to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision on an appropriate time to manage petroleum prices.
In the most recent adjustment period (January 23), gasoline prices were adjusted down after 3 consecutive increases since the beginning of the new year 2025 until now. Specifically, according to the adjustment of the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance, the price of E5 RON92 gasoline decreased by 158 VND/liter, not higher than 20,592 VND/liter. The price of RON95 gasoline decreased by 78 VND/liter, not higher than 21,142 VND/liter.
Meanwhile, the prices of all types of oil increased simultaneously. Specifically, the price of diesel oil increased by 412 VND/liter, not higher than 20,194 VND/liter. The price of kerosene oil increased by 404 VND/liter, not higher than 20,110 VND/liter. The price of fuel oil increased by 571 VND/kg, not higher than 17,752 VND/kg.
During this operating period, the management agency continues not to set aside or use the price stabilization fund for all goods.
Thus, this is the first time gasoline prices have decreased in 2025.
