After the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor implemented the regulations of the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament 2025, the Can Tho Trade Union football team was immediately assembled.
"3 in 1" lineup
Can Tho Trade Union Football Team was gathered from half of Hau Giang Trade Union Team (old), the other half were members of Can Tho and Soc Trang Trade Union Team (old). Due to geographical distance and the nature of the work, gathering the team, time and place for training were quite difficult.
However, all the team members overcame the difficulties and arranged their time to be present when there was a training schedule. For the first time participating in the tournament, Quach Thuan Anh (currently working at Vinmec Can Tho General Hospital) was very excited and enthusiastically practiced, waiting for the qualifying round in Ho Chi Minh City. On days when the team was not gathering, Thuan Anh still played football outside to maintain his physical strength and maintain his ball sense.
"I saw the news in the newspaper, watched the draw ceremony, this is the first large-scale tournament I have participated in since I learned to play football" - Thuan Anh excitedly said and said that the unit's leaders created conditions for him to participate in training and competition.
In addition to training time, the Can Tho Trade Union team's coaching staff also connects with other football teams in Can Tho City so that players have the opportunity to compete and exchange. Ms. Tran Tu Nhien, Vice President of the Can Tho City Labor Federation, assessed the 2025 Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament as a prestigious, large-scale, professional tournament for workers and civil servants.
Therefore, the players participating in the Can Tho Trade Union football team have overcome difficulties to gather and practice hard in the hope of achieving the best results. "The team practices twice a day. After finishing practice in the morning, at noon the players take advantage of the time to find a hammock cafe to rest and continue practicing in the afternoon," Ms. Tu Nhien shared.
The goal is the final
Having participated in two seasons of the Vietnam Workers and Civil Servants Football Tournament, goalkeeper Truong Van Thai clearly felt the passion of the players when participating in the tournament and affirmed that this is "a wonderful playground". In addition to competing, we also get to interact with friends from all over. And after each intense match, we make new friends.
The team consists of brothers from three provinces gathered together. Although training is difficult, the brothers are passionate and united. Whenever the team cannot concentrate, they practice on their own so that when they gather together, they can be a cohesive team. Without hiding his confidence, Mr. Thai said: "This year's team is better, the preparation is better, the players are very eager to win. The team's goal is to reach the final of the tournament."
Meanwhile, coach Tran Van Hiep commented that when the players were called to join the team, they were very excited and passionate about training because they were able to participate in big matches of a large-scale tournament.
The tournament has a great influence and receives support from local authorities and units with participating players. Therefore, the players' spirit is higher and they are more eager to contribute. The goal of the Can Tho Trade Union team is to reach the final match.
In 2024, the Hau Giang Provincial Trade Union team (the core of the Can Tho Trade Union team this year) "almost" made it to the final round. However, with a friendly playing style, the team received the fairplay award.
"This season, the Can Tho Trade Union team wants to go to Ho Chi Minh City twice in October. The first time is to participate in the qualifying round, the second time is to play in the final round," Ms. Tu Nhien stated the team's goal.
