The Hanoi School for Training of Education Officials recently held a conference to deploy training for managers, teachers, and staff of preschool, general education, and continuing education institutions for the 2025-2026 school year.
The highlight of the training session is a set of documents including 15 topics on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in management and teaching approved by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. The chief editor of the set of documents is Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Principal of the Hanoi School for Training of Education Officials, former Director of the Department of Secondary Education (Ministry of Education and Training).

"AI can handle thousands of subject-related constraints"
At the secondary level, integrating natural sciences is a difficult subject for schools. Because there are no teachers, most schools use 3 teachers (physics, chemistry, biology) of 3 subjects to teach one integrated subject.
In the document, Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Thanh pointed out that, for natural science subjects, experiential activities need to have appropriate division of labor between professional groups and teachers.
For example, for natural science subjects, schools need to arrange physics, chemistry, and biology teachers in the same professional group to facilitate the assignment of teachers to teach content streams appropriate to the teachers' professional capacity.
Hanoi's key teachers are interested in learning about the set of documents applying artificial intelligence in management and teaching.

"AI can handle thousands of constraints related to subjects, educational activities, teachers, classrooms, characteristics of each grade and regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training on the number of periods to create the most optimal timetable, minimize conflicts and maximize resource efficiency," said Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Thanh.
Similarly, in high school, students must choose 4 out of 9 subjects. With the available resources, the school must build a certain number of subject combinations. According to Associate Professor Thanh, AI can support well in the problem of suggesting some subject combinations based on information about the school's current number of teachers.
Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Thanh shared that after the Prime Minister's directive and the Ministry of Education and Training's guidance on teaching two sessions a day, training for schools and teachers to correctly understand and implement this policy is very necessary.
Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Thanh suggested that AI could be used to support the development of topics for implementation for each type of extracurricular educational activity by: choosing subjects with content suitable for the type of activity; using the built program distribution board to ask AI to support the suggestion of topics...
Delegates experience innovative teaching support devices within the framework of the conference.

"Teachers should talk less so that students can do more"
Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Thanh emphasized the role of the teacher, but he also noted that the teacher must be "hands-free" in the classroom, allowing students to participate. Students must learn by doing, and so must teachers.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Do, former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, expressed his confidence and high expectations for the set of documents and training course of Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Thanh. However, Mr. Do also noted: "The book may be good but if the training is not good, the results will not be high" and suggested that teachers need to experience the training process. In each class, teachers should talk less so that students can work more.
Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, shared that only 61% of the educational staff at the commune level are people working in the education sector, the remaining 39% are in need of professional training in education; at the same time, it is necessary to improve the qualifications of the entire educational staff at the commune level.
Pointing out that reality, Mr. Cuong emphasized the importance and practicality of the document set edited by Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Thanh and hoped that every school and every teacher would have access to this spirit of innovation.
The document set focuses on applying AI in building school education plans; supporting the organization of teaching subjects; supporting the organization of experiential and career guidance activities; supporting the preparation of experimental equipment in teaching; supporting the organization of high school graduation exam review...
Each topic has 40 sessions. It is expected that there will be 1 to 10 training sessions depending on each topic, starting from October 2025. This is a preparation step for staff and teachers to meet the requirements of implementing the 2018 General Education Program and enhancing digital transformation and AI application in education.
