Email signatures are an important way for users to quickly add personal information to emails or responses. Typically, users have a signature set for their work accounts, including their name, title, preferred pronouns, and other contact information. Many organizations also require employees to adhere to a certain signature format.

While setting up a Gmail signature via the web is fairly straightforward, it doesn’t sync with the mobile app, which is a bit of a hassle. If you want to reply to emails from your phone, you have to set up your signature in the mobile app. And the signature doesn’t automatically transfer to new devices, which means you have to remember to set it up again every time you change phones.

Setting up a Gmail signature on mobile is no longer a hassle

However, as announced by the Workspace blog, Google has improved the email signature experience. From now on, if users have not set up a mobile signature in the Gmail app on Android, the signature from the web version will be automatically inserted when composing an email. This signature will support images, logos, and text formatting, just like when sending from Gmail on the web.

If you don't want to use web signatures on your Android device, you need to set up a mobile signature. Without a web signature, you won't have a mobile signature.

This change will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account users. The rollout is complete for iOS devices and is starting to roll out to Android.

Overall, the new feature improves the Gmail user experience as they can now easily create a signature on desktop without having to worry about resetting it on mobile. This also means users can change their signature in one place without having to update it across multiple devices.
