The art of Khen dance of the Mong people has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Dong Van is the core district of the Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark with many famous relics, heritages, and scenic spots, an indispensable destination for tourists when coming to Ha Giang. Dong Van is also known for its unique and distinctive cultural features of ethnic communities, of which the Mong ethnic group is the foundation.

For the Mong people, the panpipe plays an extremely important role, not only as a musical instrument but also as a symbol, a unique and traditional cultural feature; the panpipe dance art of the Mong people in Ha Giang province has been recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage. The Mong panpipe has high artistic value from the stages of making, preserving, using..., which further affirms the cultural and artistic value of the panpipe in the daily life of the Mong ethnic community.

With the theme "The sound of the flute calling friends", the 10th Dong Van District's Khen Festival in 2025 is an opportunity to connect the community, promote and introduce the image of the homeland, people, and unique cultural features of Dong Van District to domestic and international friends; is a bridge for people, actors, and artisans to exchange, learn, and strengthen solidarity, helping to collect and restore folk songs and dances.

In the framework of this year's festival, in addition to the dances and flutes of the Mong people, there are also many performances imbued with the culture of other ethnic communities currently living in Dong Van district such as: Lo Lo, Pu Peo, Tay, Giay, Dao; especially this year's festival also has the participation of performances by the Phu Ninh District Art Troupe (China).
