(Dan Tri) - Through inspection, Nguyen Ninh green rice cake facility (11 Hang Than) had a series of violations of food safety and hygiene.
On the afternoon of January 2, the number one interdisciplinary inspection team on food safety in Hanoi city requested the traditional rice cake establishment Nguyen Ninh, located at 11 Hang Than (Ba Dinh district), to temporarily suspend operations to correct a series of violations related to hygiene and food safety.
The information was confirmed by a leader of the Hanoi Department of Health to Dan Tri reporter on the afternoon of January 2.
Specifically, at the time of inspection, Nguyen Ninh green rice cake production facility had 5 production workers and one facility owner.
According to the inspection team at the scene, the production area of this facility was used from a family's kitchen, had no separate areas, was arranged in a messy manner and was in a state of serious disrepair.

The production floor was peeling and moldy, the sewers were open and there was stagnant waste. The inspection team also discovered that clothes were being hung to dry in the processing area, and the production tools were dirty due to lack of regular cleaning.
Notably, the toilet is located right next to the food preparation area. The production area also has insects and animal feces.
Raw materials are also not stored properly. Bags of dried green rice, the main ingredient for making green rice cakes, are stacked right at the entrance, close to the moldy wall.
Meanwhile, the facility has not yet presented documents proving the origin of raw materials, food additives and packaging that directly contact food.
The inspection team discovered that the owner of the facility and 5 employees did not have health certificates or confirmation of having received food safety training. In addition, the labels of the green rice cake products did not comply with the regulations on product labeling and were inconsistent with the product declaration.
In response to the above violations, the inspection team requested the facility to temporarily suspend all production activities to correct the shortcomings. At the same time, the Ba Dinh District Food Safety Steering Committee was assigned to continue working with the facility to thoroughly handle the violations and report the results before January 10.

The inspection team also took samples of two types of cakes, including green rice cakes and xu xe cakes, to test for quality standards.
This is part of the Hanoi People's Committee's food safety inspection campaign for the 2025 Lunar New Year. With the goal of ensuring public health, the city has established four interdisciplinary inspection teams, focusing on food production and trading establishments serving the Lunar New Year.
Items that are focused on inspection include meat, alcohol, confectionery, vegetables and processed foods.
