Hanoi promotes the role of the elderly in the era of national growth

The plan aims to encourage and mobilize all levels, sectors, the Association of the Elderly at all levels and the elderly in the city to actively participate in building a strong Party and government, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas; and building the image of the Vietnamese elderly "Old age - Bright example".

With the theme “Promoting the role of the elderly in the era of national development”, the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam will take place in October with many activities. In particular, from August to September: Departments, branches, sectors; People's Committees of communes and wards coordinate with the Fatherland Front and socio -political organizations to develop a plan to implement the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam; mobilize and socialize to support the elderly in difficult circumstances to receive health care, medical examination, treatment and free medicine.

At the same time, localities and units will disseminate laws and policies related to the elderly and "Population Aging"; review data on elderly people in difficult circumstances who need assistance; organize and mobilize social resources to support poor elderly people and elderly people in difficult circumstances; organize the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for the Elderly in accordance with the actual situation of the locality.

From October to the end of December, the city organized a peak period of Action Month for the Elderly in October, focusing on the following contents: Organizing visits and giving gifts to lonely elderly people without support, elderly people from poor households with difficult circumstances; free health examination and consultation for the elderly; cataract surgery to prevent blindness for elderly people with difficult circumstances; organizing cultural, artistic, physical and sports activities; continuing to maintain activities to care for, support and help the elderly; fully implementing the prescribed regimes and policies...

To do this well, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Health to regularly coordinate with the People's Committees of communes, wards and the City Association of the Elderly to review and grasp the situation of poor elderly people, elderly people in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people without support, elderly people with disabilities to have a basis for consulting and proposing appropriate support measures; inspect and supervise the implementation of laws, regimes and policies for the elderly.

The City Association of the Elderly (the standing agency to deploy and implement the "Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam") guides and urges the Association of the Elderly in communes and wards to organize activities on the issue of population aging and policies and laws related to the elderly; coordinates with the People's Committees of communes and wards to continue to replicate the model of intergenerational self-help clubs; promotes the development of the Fund "Caring for and promoting the role of the elderly" in communes and wards.

The People's Committees of communes and wards shall make lists of health insurance cards for the elderly in the locality in a timely and proper manner; strengthen the inspection and supervision of the implementation of policies for the elderly at the grassroots level; proactively arrange resources and budgets to fully implement policies, programs and projects on the elderly in accordance with the law; organize well the work of wishing longevity, celebrating longevity, visiting and giving gifts to poor and lonely elderly people without anyone to take care of them; mobilize all socialized resources in the work of caring for and promoting the role of the elderly in the locality.
