Hanoi officially informs about square and park east of Hoan Kiem Lake

On September 16, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward ( Hanoi City) informed about the investment project to build a square - park on the east side of Hoan Kiem Lake.

The project will form a square connected to the green space east of Hoan Kiem Lake, creating a community living space, organizing art activities, exhibitions and cultural events, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people.

The project combines with the development of the urban railway network system (the research area belongs to the TOD area of station C9 - urban railway line No. 2 Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao), helping to increase accessibility to the area.

Walking routes will be expanded, combined with an electric car system to reduce personal vehicles, creating a pedestrian-friendly environment.

The total planned area of the area east of Hoan Kiem Lake is about 2.14 hectares, with the western boundary bordering Hoan Kiem Lake and Dinh Tien Hoang Street, the northern boundary bordering the existing residential area, the eastern boundary bordering Ly Thai To Street, and the southern boundary bordering Tran Nguyen Han Street.

The research project is divided into two phases.

Phase 1 includes compensation, support, and resettlement for house and land users within the land area of about 21,151 square meters to implement the investment project to build the TOD area east of Hoan Kiem Lake.

This area has 59 land users including 17 organizations (7 electricity units and 10 other units) and 42 households.

The authorities will plan, organize, and arrange the square space including leveling, paving, trees, lawns, parking lots, etc. according to the approved design plan.

In particular, the authorities will retain the building of the Department of Culture and Sports , the Institute of Literature, study the relocation of the Power Plant, and temporarily retain two architectural works of the Northern Electricity Corporation to study specific handling options in phase 2 (phase 2).

In addition, the authorities are also studying the plan to retain the Artdeco style architecture of the Hoan Kiem Electricity Company, considering the plan to open the first floor...

Technical infrastructure systems such as water supply and drainage, lighting, urban equipment supply (trash cans, benches, toilets, etc.), Wifi system, and security cameras will also be invested.

Authorities will also renovate and restore some buildings, retain and relocate underground and above-ground structures and some other related items.

Hoan Kiem Ward said that phase 2 will be implemented with a separate project according to the planning and architectural plan appraised and approved by competent authorities in accordance with regulations and the orientation of the approved planning.

In phase 2, the authorities will study the planning and organization of underground space in the area east of Hoan Kiem Lake (about 3 basements), connecting the underground space of station C9 - urban railway line No. 2 Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao.

At the same time, there are suitable technical solutions for conservation works during basement construction.

The authorities will also propose functional uses for underground space to ensure effective land use and meet people's needs, such as research and proposals for multi-functional public, cultural, service, commercial, infrastructure use....

Hoan Kiem Ward said it will carry out compensation procedures, resettlement support, phase 1 investment project and start construction before October 10.

For phase 2, Hoan Kiem ward will carefully study with the approved planning orientation and opinions of Hanoi People's Committee.
