At the plenary session on the evening of May 10 (Vietnam time), the Russian House of Representatives officially voted to approve Mr. Mikhail Mishustin as Prime Minister as nominated by President Putin, according to TASS News Agency.

Previously, Mr. Mishustin had served as Prime Minister of Russia since January 2020 until the entire cabinet resigned as stipulated in the Constitution right before Mr. Putin was sworn in for a new term on May 7. The old cabinet members continued to work until a new government was appointed.

Mr. Mishustin is expected to present personnel proposals for deputy prime minister positions and non-security-related ministerial posts. The State Duma plans to vote on the deputy prime minister positions on May 13 and select ministers on May 14.

At the same time, President Putin nominated to the Russian Federation Council (upper house) candidates to head ministries related to the country's security, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Justice , Ministry of Emergency Situations and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Sputnik News.

The Russian Senate will vote on the above positions.

Russia's cabinet is unlikely to change much during President Putin's fifth term, sending a message of political stability in Russia both at home and abroad.
