The welcoming ceremony was solemnly held at the 255 milestone area, chaired by General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense of Vietnam.
The Lao delegation was led by General Chansamone Chanyalath, member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense.

This is the second time the Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange has been held. The exchange took place from October 22 and 23 in Moc Chau district ( Son La province) and Sop Bao district (Hua Phan province).
The second Vietnam-Laos border defense friendship exchange is an important defense foreign activity in 2024 of the two countries' defense ministries.
This is an activity contributing to maintaining a peaceful, stable and developing environment in the region and the world, practically celebrating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day.
The event was organized based on the guiding viewpoints of the two Parties and two States on building a peaceful, friendly, stable, cooperative and mutually developing Vietnam-Laos border.

Immediately after the official welcoming ceremony, the two Ministers of National Defense and delegates participated in many activities such as planting friendship trees, witnessing the joint exercise of capturing drug criminals in the border area by the two countries' joint forces, visiting and working with Long Sap Border Guard Station, cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the classrooms of Long Sap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities...
